Nytro powderlites DIES WHEN HOT

Mine was acting up again this weekend without even running it very hard. I'm going to mess with a few things this week...so I'll keep you all posted as to the results.
I find that the fuel lines collapse and kink fairly easily when hot. My oil return line did this as well, but since using a stainless braided return line and angled fittings...the problem there, seems to be rectified. I'm going to plumb my fuel lines with stainless braided and AN fittings. My sled ran flawless over X-mas holidays when it was warmer temps and neck deep pow, but everything was still brand new. So, we'll see if this fix helps or not. Maybe the lines are becoming softer after every ride - making them more susceptible to collapsing!?!? In Automotive applications - fuel lines generally have more air space around them and if they are in in high heat performance applications - they are always stainless braided or hard lines.
Just trying to figure out whether I should use -8 or -6 for the fuel lines...any suggestions???

P.S. Since this started happening I can notice a loss in performance and throttle response (hot or cold)...anyone else?

Had this happen on my PL t-apex. I have not really had a chance to ride lately to test but I put a t in the discharge line off the fuel pump with a line and valve coming off the extra side of the t. If it acts up I am hoping to be able to bleed the line and make sure the pump is primed and see if it takes off again. This will atleast tell me if the line is vapor locking. Also not sure that it would work on the nyrto but I plan on getting one of the turbo blower fan things that are used on boats to pull some heat away from the turbo (sits by handle bars) area and see it that helps.

Av gas

Clutch side only.

Don't run straight AV (just a little), you'll be disappointed, your engine will feel lazy. Run Race Fuel. AV is designed to burn slower...made for high compression engines at high altitudes. Most likely you lowered the compression of your engine for boost and we don't run at aviation altitudes. This is a four stroke issue, works OK in 2-smokes.

Av gas is less likely to vapor lock right. I have run av gas for the last while and never had this problem. PL guys said not to run straight av gas so i wound up with very little in my tank for first day at Valemount and nothing but trouble. Will be 50/50 for tomorrow so hope it's better. Don't know about getting race fuel here. If I can get it here how much in the blend would solve this problem?

Hmm first I have heard of this on the Apex's.

Do other t-apexs have the magic cure?

Strange that this is also happening with rear mounts so its not just heat from the turbo but that extra heat cant be helping with the front mounts.

I am guessing once we identify the source it should be manageable.

I think its only happening with rear mounts? Is anyone on here having this prob with a front mount? Most all front mounts I have seen have removed the rad. Should be worse if its heat.

You guys install a new fuel pump with the PL kits??

So

I'm gettin ready to turn the body panels into swiss cheese to se if more air flow will solve it. I was also thinking a fan evacuating all the hot air in between the fuel tank and engine, there isn't much venting there to get rid of all that hot air the fan is pulling through the radiator. Also, does anybody know of any of the guys that have deleted the radiator and are using a tunnell cooler,,, are they having this issue too????

I'm thinkin that radiator has got to go, it's just a big HOT spot right where all the problems are revolving around.

Yes, after this problem started, the performance started to go south. I am almost tempted to tear it down and recheck everything on the engine, huge time consuming project, loss of riding time, that sucks.

Has anyone talked to Dave at Powderlites, he is usually pretty helpful, seems like he should be bending over backwards to get this solved, his kits are gettin a bad rap with all these negative comments...

When I decided to go with the Powderlites kit I read alot about it, and it seemed pretty bulletproof..... After all this, if I was a guy making a decision on a turbo kit, and read this thread,,,,,,,,,,, I wouldn't be gettin this kit....

We need to get this solved, nobody is benefitting from this, and I'm startin to get pissed off!!!!!!

Here is Dave's(Powderlites) number: 250-836-4422
I think we should all call him and express our concerns, that many phone calls, and I bet he'll figure it out....

Again,,,,, I am unhappy about this problem, BUT,, when this sled is runnin good, it's ****in awesome.... That's why I'm soooo bummed about these issues........

Im running the STG II kit with rad delete, and cr tunnel- u cooler etc.. Havent had any issues with heating or fuel issues.. Early in the season I rode alot of warm days with minimal snow conditions etc..
Kits been great, so far so good 1300 km gas and go!!!
My oil tank cracked on me this weekend thanks too a poor Yammi design,, limped and towed her out alittle jb-weld and back in buisness.. Something to keep an eye on ruined a perfect day in the hills..

The cause and fix...

I just got off the phone with Darren at Powder Lites...he told me to give him a call tomorrow and he will tell me the exact cause and fix for the fuel boiling issues. They have been working feverishly on this problem, but didn't want to post anything till they had a 100% cure for the issue. I totally respect how they are going about this...figure out the cause and come up with a cure...instead of telling us what may and may not fix it.

I'll post up tomorrow morning after I talk to Darren:D

Nice!

That's what we like to hear!:D:D:D

They really are good guys, I just thought I would give em a nudge.

Thanks guys, let us know when you get it figured out.

Thanks again everybody..

I was thinking the powderlites was a front mount kit. Maybe the rear mounts are having more trouble.

Rad delete and U-cooler would be an easy fix.

PL nitro kit is a rear mount there apex is a front mount. The prob I think is with the nitro only.

Do you get a new fuel pump with a PL kit?

hi, i have the same problem it dies when hot and the fuel pressure is all over the place but it will not go past 25 psi. Let it sit for an hour and it will pressure up and run fine ontill it gets hot again then the same old crap.
I may be way off here but just a thought my nytro has 1400 km on it never ever had a problem with it not having fuel pressure when it gets hot ontill i did the new mapping with the vac line update. just a thought:mad: Pisses me off hauling the sled 6 hours with buddy and having the trip go to crap because of this!

MSD external pump replaces the stocker. Does the alpine kit replace the stocker or just boost it?

The alpine comes with a new pump as well and it is a open loop with a feed back into the tank, PL feed back into the tank?

Yup

2 to 1 regulator feeds back into the tank.

I think the major difference is the headlight and the RAD removal. I have a PL kit without a headlight and no issues. Picked up a Cat coolant bottle last week and I'm going to remove my rad just to be safe, but i've also got a CRtunnel which i'd imagine has better cooling properties with extrusions and Ucooler.
