Nytro or Apex?

I'm ready to step up to a four stroke turbo this year, but am new to the turbo game. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. It seems like the turbo Apex isn't as popular as the turbo Nytro. What are the reasons for that? It also seems like the Apex sleds are considerably cheaper than the Nytro's. Also, it seems like there are several different turbo kits available. Seems like the MCX kits are very popular. Are there any turbos that should be avoided? Im looking at a 2009 FX Nytro 162 with the MCX 270hp turbo with about 400 total miles, all turboed. The guy wants $14,000. Is that a good price?

Is there anything that I should REALLY be looking for/at when checking out prospective buys?

Thanks again for any info!!!!

Chris

Cant go wrong with an MCX 270 Nytro, make sure it was built and tuned by a reputable builder. Pump gas and go:face-icon-small-hap, 270 hp is alot of power.:face-icon-small-win

I had a T Nytro at one time running 15 lbs boost on meth and quite a few mods. Hated it compared to my Apex. It seemed too high centered/tippy, sucked on hard pack, did not sound anywhere near as good as an Apex, lacked storage, etc.
I couldn't wait to get back on an Apex. Just my 2 cents.
But you can't go wrong with a Nytro, they do have bulletproof motors and have proven themselves and everyone has one now.

all the rider forward sleds take a few rides if your not use to them. usually after a week though you won't go back.

I've been doin some research, looks like the Nytro is the way to go! Thanks for the posts! I'll welcome more, can never have too much info!!!!!

ive ridden both stock sleds.

Nytro for the win.

its lighter and more nimble.... cant go wrong with that

tnytro

I made the jump this summer(I know that sounds dumb) to a turbo 4 stroke and after all is said and done I love the nytro, I have the impulse kit, it came down to impulse and mcx, both are the best, pg and go, but it does come down to the installer. YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!

I've had both a T-Apex and now have a T-Nytro. The Apex was done right up and now I'm doing the Nytro right up. I loved the Apex and had a lot of fun on it. but for my riding style (trees, boondocking and jumping) the Nytro was much better suited for me and I love it even more. Have had more fun on the Nytro than the Apex and am really looking forward to this year with more mods.

I had an McX turbo on the Apex and have an Alpine turbo on the Nytro. I was very happy with the McX and the service I got from Vernon Motorsports and if I was going back to an MCX that's where I would go.

But I have never had better service than what Alpine has given me. And I could not be happier with kit itself.

My .02

I am assuming you have looked at Ulmer Racings' website. No comparison! Mid mount, cast Iron intake and exhaust, very importmant, short charge tube. means very little or no lag. The most bang for the buck.

I have been riding a boosted Apex since 2006. Have built three different sleds. I've run BD, MCX and Impulse kits. All three ran spot on once properly set up which was never the same as manufactures recommendations. It’s a game that requires tuning knowledge if you’re ever going to be totally happy with any set up IMO.

<O:p</O:pI did build a Nytro last year that I ran from Nov to April. Put over 4000K on it. I loved the sled, but for me it never did feel as natural, strong, or seem to handle as well as the Apex. I spend as much time in the trees as anyone, but I never got attached to it. It seemed to run out as strong as any other Nytro I rode, but on the days I knew I would be going big I opted to take my 07 Apex. I decided if I could not get attached to it after a complete season it just wasn’t for me.

I still run an Rx-1 so I'll have to say Apex. I will always run the Apex/Rx chassis before the Nytro.

I run a impulse Turbo apex and love the sled. I haven't had to tune on it besides adjusting the fuel a bit. I haven't ever ran a nytro but used to run a summit rev. I liked the rev but with the power I love how stable the apex chassis is climbing.

Both would be a great sled.

I own a T-Apex but have had the chance to ride a 180, 240, and 270 kit Nytro. I like them both but still like to pull the trigger on my Apex. Nytro is a fine machine as well, but i like the Apex motor better !

I have had two Nytros -08 and -09, the last with MCX 240 kit. For the season -10 I traded my Nytro to Apex, here in Sweden we go with MCX, it works great.
I never liked the Nytro, when I got the opportunity to drive a friends Apex I new, this is the best!!
Apex is a much better sled, in deep snow outstanding, boon docking and trees - easier to handle, carving-way better the Nytro, climbing-the best.
Here in Sweden we have big problems with clutch heat on T-Nytros.
Many of my Nytro friends now go from Nytro to Apex, but its difficult to find an Apex MTX here in Sweden.

X2. I HAD a Nytro for one season, I HAVE an apex now.

Absolutely love my Alpine Apex. 2871 turbo with an m10 skid and the thing pulls like no other.

Nytros are badass as well but the 4 cylinder R1 motor is the chit.

I like the handling and violent power of the Apex. I like my Apex so much, I decided to go through the sled from front to back and ride it for another 4+ years. :face-icon-small-hap

The Nytro is a great sled too, I would be happy riding either one.

Not true. I've ridden lots of rider forward sleds. I also ride a lot of hard pack too and that's really where the Nytro is a bear. The Ape just has such a sweet motor and sound and fit and finish. And a very predictable chassis. To each his own though.
