I can't find were Yamaha sells a upgraded shock for the MTX. Looks like they only have the stockers.
Yes, but I don't think Yami would let me pay the diff. on a shock that is not
designed for this machine. Even though they fit, they are not for this machine. If I was to foot the bill, I would do it, but I don't think Yami would.
Look at the short track sleds. Same length front shocks. Standard fx nytro gets you clickers and the rtx gets you the floats I believe. I think it is around 850 with the pump for floats (no fat dealer discount). Pretty steep for what you get.
Yamaha is replacing both shocks and the a-arms. The a-arms got scratched
when the shocks let lose. Took awhile but they are replacing them.
That shock snapping business looks ugly. I have four EXIT shocks on order from ZBroz racing. Replacing the fronts and both rear shocks. The rear is way too soft.
I have heard of the black steel frame bending where the lower a-arms mount toward the back of the machine. This causes the shock to run of center in the a-arm and in some cases hit the a-arm. Its a pretty big job to straighten though.
