So I thought i would start a thread on whats involved in building one...... What makes the most sense....to buy a stock apex for 4500ish and build it from there and buy like a done out cr nytro sell the motor/turbo/bulkhead/and electrical......... I heard CR is making a front bulkhead to build one or Diamond s chassi

You don tneed a different front bulkhead. Stock Nytro bulkhead works just fine.

Impulse even has a turbokit for the Nypex. It involves some cutting to the frame and modifications to the front cooler and water pump housing. They say its pretty straight forward.

Yah I'm sure just buying the kit and converting the apex is the easy, its trying to get the turbo in there that might be challenging.

OK here's what I'm doing. I bought a stocker Apex from which I'm going to take the motor, electrical, jackshaft, driveshaft, chaincase, oil tank few other small parts and thats about it. IMO the easiest way to build from scratch is to buy the Diamond s side plates and either make a tunnel or buy one his. I have also bought all the Nytro plastics, a stock Nytro subframe A(the Diamond s one would be nice but $$$) the stock Nytro steering hoop, full steering system less the column which I wil build , both footwells complete and thats about all you need from a Nytro. I have a Rev tank and will be buying a Boss Rev seat. Skid and track are what ever you like as is the front end. Its a pretty straight forward build, the toughest part is going to be building the turbo system and if Impulse has a header thats likely what I'll do.

I like the Diamond S plate idea better than a stock Nytro bulkhead mainly because of the ability to be able to use an Apex chaincase which if it blows up is way easier to fix.

Yah I thought you couldn't use the nytro bulkhead to fit everything in there....

Almost complete my new sled. CR is doing the work. Started with Apex, rolled case, Rev Tank, Diamond S side plates and Header. (we tried the Impulse and Alpine but not enough room with the Rev tank) 2871 Garret, Modified front bulkhead from Diamond S. Custom Intercooler (MCX plenum with oversize core vertical) built by CR c/w Boost It fuel system, 174 X3" 16 wide, Carbon Chromoly tube chasis.
I will try to get a few pics on here once completed.....it runs now and Chad /Jay are just bottoning up the final touches.

Looking forward to first ride soon :)

CR is building 2 others after this.........one in a Nytro Bulkhead and another with Diamond S side plates.

Randy, I have been watching CR Build this Beauty ! hands down the most bad *** sled I have every seen. I am excited for you, and for everyone else who will get to see you in action on that beauty.

If Yamaha doesn't build this sled stock I think you're going to see quite a few of these getting built next year. I'd like to have mine on the snow this year but I guess we'll see, lots of riding to get done yet.

awesome post some pics when shes done....

Oh man, I am sure anyone who has built one of these can agree the words strait forward and bolt in dont apply. I just finished this project and its alot of work for sure. I know some guys with greater resources than me might find it easier to do. I got the tunnel and side plates from Scott at Diamond S along with the turbo components. Pulled all favors with welding and machinist buddies on this project. I am pretty happy how it turned out though. Will be testing this week. Shad

mr fusion.. with the diamond s nypex setup can a guy run a different tunnel? I too have been looking into a nypex for a project this summer has my sled is getting beat up, but i love the motor so a nypex is cheaper and way better than getting a new stock sled. C3 is also trying to get 20 people so they can do a nytro chassis that can accept either yammi motor and any turbo setup. I intended on parting out my apex and transfering most of the aftermarket stuff right on to the nytro.

Should accept most tunnels I would think. The inner is 16.5 inches like the Apex and has strait sides and corners so making your own wouldnt be a stretch if you have the resources. I went with Scotts tunnel, I likes the look but a price attached too. He is a good fabricator on the titanium. Shad

ya i got see his nypex at edmonton and it looks great but i can see that tunnel not lasting very long for me.

Tyler Earl in 100mile should have mine done next weekend with pauls kit... bought stock Nytro and parting out my Apex

I doubt this conversion is very easy but it can be done and impulse has a turbo kit and full electrical harness so everything fits right and not splicing the harness cause the battery isn't in the right place or among other things lots of small changes. Mr. Fusion how are those a arms holding up? i hear those titanium arms break pretty easy. what is the wet weight on that sled? i wanna ride one first cause i own one of each and might have to build a nypex
