It is time to start thinking snow, and snow safety. Another winter is upon us, people are getting there sleds ready, gear ready, but don't forget to get you mind ready on being safe in the snow.

The Northwest Glacier Cruisers will be hosting an Avalanche Awareness Course on the 15 and 16 of November. It will be located at the Sedro Woolley Fire Station. Please see flier below for more details, or the NWGC website.

Please note that the Saturday class needs to be fully booked before registration for the Sunday class will be allowed.

To register, please send an email to thuisman@olypen.com.

Big props and thank you to Steel Dreams, Mount Baker Moto Sports, Smokey Point Cycle Barn, and Skagit Power Sports. Please support these sponsors for helping out.

Must have!

We all know better than to pound that questionable slope...but we all have done it before,

We all know better than to sit at the bottom of the hill our buddy is climbing...but it still happens,

We all know not to help out our buddies when they are stuck on the hill, but we are still dying because of it.

This course, as it says, teaches about the human factors...the dumb a$$ things we do that get us into trouble. Michael Jackson is a great instructor and has developed this snowmobile specific course just for us sledders. I have taken the course and helped him teach the course...it is highly recommended.

Even though Ruffy's post gives props to the local dealers...make that 2 X's. They are supporting the lunch for the course and support our club just about whenever we ask.

This is going to be a great course...see you there.

Awesome-

Thanks for setting this up early in the season.

Many remember the terrible events on Bearpaw last year and that should be more than enough to convince you that this is a real danger in our area and in our sport.

Even if you think you know it all, think about your friends, family etc... that may be at the bottom watching you climb.

Make the investment in your yourself and your riding partners to get educated on how to recognize the signs of a hazardous situation.

Hey, I resemble that remark!! :D

We took Michaels course last year and it was excellent!! If possible, we'll be at this one.

OK everyone...now that everyone is pumped coming from the snowshow...now's the time to think of getting your avalanche safety training.

Snow's flyin' already, why not get your training out of the way?

Sorry, not trying to be salesy...but we take this training seriously and want to make sure everyone out there riding knows as much as they can!!

So...get the word out and invite your buddies, wives, girlfriends...heck invite your wife and your girlfriend ;)

Thanks
BroT

The only one I am aware of right now that is farther south is in Lynwood. You can contact WSSA's safety coordinator (Mick Steinman, look him up on the WSSA website here: wssa) for more info in your area.
