Here's a note from The Forest Service concerning Schriebers current conditions. Our club Facebook page is another great place to get the latest info. Check us out for updates! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Northwest-Glacier-Cruisers/281314831199

"The Mt. Baker NRA will stay closed to snowmobiling at least through the Thanksgiving weekend.

The ‘Closed’ signs for snowmobiles & snoparks remain in place on SR 20 at Baker Lake road, Baker Lake road & FS road 12 junction and at the start of FS road 13.

Today a FS engineer found 6” of snow on road #13 at mile 4.2. As a side note he also found a contractors excavator had been taken for a joy ride & left stuck on the fill slope of the access road to NRA snopark #1.

There are four WA Snotel websites around the mountain and the upper two at 4000’ only show 15-16” of snow.
Certainly not a 24” base of snow yet and more rain is as likely as snow for the next few weeks.

Avoid riding in the NRA backcountry for a bit longer until the snow is here to stay for the season. The closed signs will then be pulled ASAP to allow as early an opening to riding as possible. SnoPark signs and maps on the kiosks will also be placed.
As a reminder the minimum of a 24” snow base before riding off road in the NRA is to prevent soil and vegetation damage.

Roads not drivable by wheeled vehicle due to snow depth will need to suffice for now for riders that need to put some break in mileage on their sleds.

Please share this info.
