Not to impressed with a new dealer....not in Red Deer....

So, I had to take my sled in after the last trip.....was getting a ridiculous amount of snow in my air box. Two other buddies riding with me in the same sleds, same conditions didn't have a drop of moisture. Sled started idling rough and not clearing up. So, I decided to try the new dealer out in my area. Called them up and they were more than happy to work on my sled. I thought great, new shop, eager to do warranty work...cool!!! Loaded it up and brought it to the shop, told them all the problems I was having. They told me that there were about 25 sleds ahead of mine, so they would get it in to find out what parts it needed the following week, and then go from there.
Week One...week went by, nothin, I though ok, not till next week....
Week Two...another week went by....nothin.... Called them on friday to see what the scoop was. They told me they ordered the update kit for it and it was getting installed as we spoke. I said awesome, so than I asked what they had found with the airbox....."We'll he hasn't had a chance to look at it yet, but he'll inspect it once the motor's back together, and we don't like to bug them while their working just kinda let them do their thing....we'll have a better idea this afternoon" I said, "Right on, call me and let me know thanks." No phone call came.
Week Three...Monday came no call. Called them on tuesday and found out they had put the motor back together and then there was a noise coming from the bottom end...tore it back down and had to order a crank. I asked if they thought they could have it done by the end of the week, and they said probably fri. They ordered the parts Monday and they should be in Thursday. Right on suppossed to go sleddin that weekend. Called Thursday to see if the parts had made it in and if they thought they'd have it have it done on Fri. Had a buddy driving from 4hrs away so if it wasn't gonna be finished or if they were iffy about it than no point in him coming. They said the parts hadn't made it in, be in Fri. Ok, did they get a chance to look at the air box yet....nope but they'll get to it for sure. Ok, so it'll be done next week some time....yep they said. We'll call you.
Week Four....No call came monday figured I'd give them a chance...tuesday, wednesday, thursday no call.....So I called Thurs late afternoon....So, yeah how'd you guys make out, I never got a call... yeah it's done just gotta get the paperwork done up..."Ok I'll be in sat to pick it up....what did they find with the airbox?" Ummm.....they checked it all out and where ever it was injesting snow it isn't anymore...I'm thinking to myself what are they doin throwing bags of damn snow at it how do they tell??? So, they never resealed it or anything? Nope...." I'll be in sat to pick it up. Saturday comes go to pick it up, "Yeah she says, so I got the warranty paperwork for you to sign and then there's also a small bill for you....there was oil and antifreeze and spark plugs the warranty didn't cover....(I'm thinkin whaterever 50 bucks or somethin) Oh....and the mechanic noticed that there was dust and lint in the valves when he pulled them so he cleaned them as well....So you total is $278." I told her I just had the valves cleaned at xmas time, and asked how the hell lint got in them....and why they didn't call me and ask to do it? She didn't know what to say to me and was starting to get ignorant with me. I refused to pay for the valve cleaning and told her that I was taking my sled. They had my sled for an entire month, done the entire motor getting paid their shop rate by polaris and guaranteed made some good money off it. And than they pull this sh!t? She said, you have to pay it or your not taking it....I was so pissed off I just wanted my sled back, so of course I paid it. What the hell is a guy supposed to do....already lost a whole month of sledding.
Sorry for the long @ss rant, but I gotta let everyone know that plans on goin to this dealer....I didn't hear till after I picked it up that these guys are always more than happy to do warranty work, but they always pull some surprise outta their @ss when it comes time to pick it up thats extra on top without calling.

I feel for you there. After week 1, I would have started getting in someone's azz about it. There is no way that I would have paid the bill, I would be having a serious sit down with the general manager, that's B.S. that they did optional work w/o authorization. I'm very thankful that my dealer is an avid rider and works very hard to make sure that things get done. I'm sure that they are far from perfect but your situation sucks azz.

On another note, you should become as self reliant as possible, this way you are not at the mercy of the shop for stupid stuff. Buy a service manual, study it and become familiar with as much as possible. Use this forum to help with the other stuff. For example, it is a widely known issue with snow getting in the airbox. $2 worth of silicone and 15 minutes of your time would have had this fixed, this is not even worth getting the dealer involved with IMO. Is is a pain that we have to do this? Yes, it is, but I have not missed a single w/e of riding this year and that includes a burn down that required a new monoblock and pistons.

Yeah, I can pretty much do everything on my own...and have some pretty knowledgable buds too....only go to the dealer for warranty work...it was running rough, so while it was there I figured I'd see if they could figure out the air box on their own....ha ha....yeah no....already had planned on sealing around the headlight and the headlight adjuster, just wanted them to ispect it see if it was fitting properly...really it should be on them to do it...

I forgot to mention too, that when I asked if they had put premix oil in the tank....she said we'll I would assume he would've.....never said anywhere on the bill it did.....so I put my own in. Put 35 miles on the motor yesterday trouble free, went to check the plugs....and low and behold my spark plug wrench is gone too....right on, get to deal with these retards some more

Know where your coming from. Don't hate Polaris because of a dealer issue.
This happens at some dealers, you will get a survey that you can do online and this is your chance to say your complaints. FYI, plugs-$10.00, coolant-$7.00, Litre oil $12.00. Labor-$0.00.

think maybe that polaris reps should be advertising there phone number a little more because obviously that people running polaris rec toys, are running into all the same problem, dealers don't know anything of wahts going on. i bet 90 percent of dealers don't have a clue whats goin on, most of the stuff i learn is on snowest, granted i take some of it with a grain of salt but when there is concrete proof that digital wrench is saying that all 09 needs the updates then 1. why do they not know about the fix. 2. why are they saying that only some need them. doesn't all the 800 run the same fuel map...3 weeks to do a motor. come on guys.. ridiculous in my mind. either they shouldn't be takin on the work if they got there plate full and dont have the staff to do so. this 3yr warranty thing that polaris is doin pisses me off too, warranty should cover everything. i got new plugs when i first got my sled, had six miles on it and it fouled them, got new ones on warranty, im not out to screw the dealer for a set of 4 dollar plugs, some people say oo 4 dollar spark plugs just pay for them, why. this is why i pay the extra money to get the warranty, polaris can pay for it. just my little rant i could go on forever about warranty for polaris and how the dealers are either turning blind eye to it or how they are just so stupid that they don't know. get your **** together guys.. I JUST WANT TO SAY TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE GOOD LUCK WITH DEALERS, GOOD FOR YOU AND I'M HAPPY THERE ARE STILL GOOD DEALERS OUT THERE AND TO THE DEALERS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, YOUR THE REASON WHY WE STILL RIDE WHAT WE RIDE!!!

I would have had a discussion with the shop supervisor and then the owner. Warranty work should not have rolled into a bill to you without the knowledge of the work over and beyond said warranty work. Surprised they the didn't soak you for a new belt. Understand the plugs but I assume by "update kit" you are talking the cylinder/piston/head deal, then the antifreeze is on them. Oil in the tank should have been @ a quart and should be theres. So for sure no more than $50 bucks. What the heck is "lint" in the valves?

a good dealer is tough to find I took my new one in for some recalls and was told 1 week. When I was on my way to get it with the trailer a friend called and said he wanted to ride along and go for a short ride after we picked her up.when we got there some of the parts were not avail and on back order would be back on trac the following week.I thought no big deal but to them it was they pulled a new D8 off the show room floor and told me to ride her like she was stolen as it was now a loaner. They made 2 long term customers for as long as my friend I live in the area, both of us are still shocked by their treatment. When I picked mine up there was no extra charges for anything and I got a new belt plugs and they filled the gas and oil.In the last month 4 other friends have bought new and used sleds from them as a result of our word of mouth for their treatment of us, oh yeah I kept their loaner/demo sled and rode it 4 days aprox 250 miles only questions they asked when I brought it back was how did she run

I'd love to have a dealer I could trust and who'd look out for me, but alas there isn't one within a 75 mile radius. So...forked out $60 for the factory Polaris service manual and figure...no make that *know* I'll do a better job fixing my sled than the local dealer.

I took mine in because the throttle cable was way out of adjustment (jam nut on the throttle cable at the throttlebodies came loose) and I was worried I didn't have the oil pump adjusted back to stock properly (before I had the factory manual). Took it in, told them exactly what I wanted checked, picked it up later with a $75 bill, and got home. Read the receipt and they didn't even look at the oil pump, only set the throttle cable and checked the TPI sensor. GAH!

So...no more service from them.
