not pulling rpm anymore

you have got to be kidding me. you think that pulling up and down on the clutch is going to damage the crank??? Lol, im pretty sure the crank is not going to snap off just by pulling up on the clutch with your hands to check the motor mounts

its not gong to snap off the crank, duh, but it puts unnecessary loads on the crank snout and bearings. My .02, just an opinion.

you would have to be a dumb *** to think that would hurt the crank :loco:

sorry, but this is a forum full of lots of good insight.

dont need you to tell me i am a dumba$$ for throwing out a heads up.

if that works for you guys, great. but i wouldnt be doing it to my sled.:face-icon-small-win

jees, didnt know everyone's panties would get in a bunch for one comment...

A broken primary spring would be easy to detect because the clutch will engage on lower rpm's..
I am guessing pistons, do a compression or a leakdown test.. The OEM pistons is no good =(

Leak down test at the dealer yesterday. 1446 miles and 22% drop pto and 26% drop mag.

To think moving the clutch around with your hands is goin to hurt something makes me think you have never seen one of these things idle. They rattle around horribly.

2011-2012 ring issues?????
Here are some pictures of 2012 Pro 800 ring failures. Flaking and pitting.
Also picture of a cyl. skirt caught before catastrophic failure.

832 miles.
In the last 2 weeks I have looked at 5 motors in 3 shops that have had catastrophic failures due to cyl. skirt breakage. All of the motors showed ring flaking or pitting problems. 2-2011 and 3-2012. They had from 800-1800 miles on them.

I took out my pistons yesterday and was going to put in new wiseco pistons, and the original pistons did not look any good.. Had some small grinds on the intake side in the sylinders and both pistons had grinds too..
The piston on the MAG side had some bigger damage, right above the pin bolt a piece of the piston was missing about 1inch between the rings.. I'm sure glad I opened it before it got to much damage..

But, my wiseco dealer had sent me wrong pistons..they have sent me pistons to a 800ves engine =(

Wonder what history other sleds are showing.
My sled's history showed 5.9% above 8000 rpm and almost 10% over 7500.

I have been waiting for someone to post some pictures like this. I have also seen this happen. I have seen 3- 2011 RMK sleds all with rings that look identical to yours.

One sled had about 800 miles has a cylinder block asm. that also looks the same as yours at the bottom of both cyl skirts with cracks.

The other 1300 miles (my sled) and one at about 2000 miles. The one that had 2000 miles broke the bottom of the cylinder skirt off and shot a hole through the cases.

The rings are getting pitted and flaking on the intake side and the pistons are minorly knife edging on the exhaust side. A compression test will NOT show low. The only way to see the damage is by tearing it down. I will try to post a picture of my rings but they look identical to yours

Wow those pics are a little scary. can't help but wonder how many of these engines have the same thing going on inside and the owner is unaware because sled is still running fine....until that piece lets loose

"Can't tell till she blows". That isn't true. Check out SnoNose's(sounds like my Grandkids)pictures in this thread. You can catch it early. He did a leak down test.
