No post about the missing sledders just north of Silverthorn

This is not the time to be bashing on Eric or any of the others involved. As we arrived at he shop last night we got word of the situation. Friends and family members of the missing individuals were arriving. Kim and others did an excellent job of organizing needs of those already on the mtn. and calming family members. The weather last night was some of the worst I've seen in a while, meanwhile some were still on the hill searching. This is not the place to be bashing people who are risking their lives to help others. Keep all involved in your thoughts for a good outcome. Many details are not known by the public at this time so do not judge others unless they decide to tell their story for others to learn from.

I hope they find them.

25-35mph wind they say snow tonight then snow 2morrow like 10 inches total! If you live in the mountains which i dont i think i would invest in the spot locator and the abs pack. just my .02 But then you would be found?
Just glad to see that people are out looking no matter what there name is and if they have to pay for S*R WHAT YOUR life worth the price you paid for your sled? you got yours cheap i bet!

We just tried calling CBurandt to see if we could get more info and not the media's info. His vm said he was out of pocket all day. We might head up tomorrow morning to help. We ride up on Elliot Ridge pretty often.

Rather than bashing people, you all should put yourselves in the situation the lost are, and hope people would be looking for you! Imagine 3 nights out. You all know there is more to this story, and unless they are found, we might never know! Say your prayers tonight folks!

Not quite sure who is bashing whom. I think we all are more than grateful for the hard work and dedication of the S&R teams and other sledders who volunteer to put themselves in harms way to help others. Although I am no longer on a team, I still have several friends that are active members.
I'm glad the sledders have been found no matter where they ended up. I hope they faired well in this lousy weather.
Several have commented on the costs involved. Not bashing, just commenting. There are many misconceptions on the subject.
Here's another article for those who are interested.

I guess I fail to see the bashing of Eric on this thread. Most know he is a good guy with a unique last name. I am sure everyone is glad he is out looking for these people and we hope they are all found quickly and safely.

I hope they are doing ok! Does anyone know if they need anymore help 2nite or 2maro! I have a group of about 5 guys that know the area good and are great riders

I have a little idea of how those guys feel--I spent the night up there about 25 years ago to the day. Had a snow cave, no fire and no company. Don't know if I was better off with a clear cold (10-20) below night against their stormy last night, but I might have been. Its going to get cold on them tonight; hope help reaches them.
I was very glad to hear the crunch crunch crunch of snowshoes the next morning. Walked out with the two guys (fellow club members) who came in before daylight. took most of the day. More friends got the sled the next day. I also know how you feel toward the people that helped-- Eric and company (and, I assume, Summit S&R) are appreciated.

THEY FOUND 2 OF THE MISSING SLEDDERS! JOHN MCKIBBEN IS STILL MISSING!

The two found sledders have been flown to Glenwood Springs for treatment. Please say a prayer to help them search for John. This community will not give up looking for John. Please keep his two sons in your hearts. John is a good man!

god speed to find those lost up there, best of luck to those lost and all those attempting to find them from SR......and to Erik and Chris B

bring em home safe!

Sorry if I misunderstood good natured ribbing for bashing, I just didn't want to discourage anyone from helping in the future. My apologies if I misunderstood.

My prayers go out to the family and friends.:brokenheart:

Thanks Billygoat. I saw the other thread after I posted the update.

My heart and prayers go out to the family.
