I thought I would cheat and get 1-2 inches more out of my 08 XP seat for $5 without taking it apart to add more or new foam.

Yes thats a tire inner tube for a hand dolly shoved between the foam and the plastic base. Then inflate until it feels like your rid'n on air. :D

feels good, well see if she holds up?

tube size is 4.10/3.50 x 4"

That is a cool idea! What ever made you think of that??

Thanks, I thought all I would get is riducule. I sat on a 09 and it felt taller and bouncier. This gives that feel but I know it won't be 2.3 lbs more like the 09 seat is reported to be.

I sat on an 09 in the dealer and it was really soft feeling, I bet that works pretty dandy, stiffens the foam, but still nice nad soft, good thinking man, way to be inovative. cheap and effective, i like it.

I think that's a great idea....try different tubes and pressures to get what you want. I'm guessing some seat mfr will see that and in a couple years it'll be all the rage!:beer;

I wanted something a little fancier similar to this:

http://www.rescueproducts.co.uk/products/lifting_bags.php

I got the idea from seeing an airbag that was used to do paintless dent repair in a car door panel. A flat bag was stuck down beside the window and inflated to give room to work the tools down the gap. This bag would be nice as they come in rectangle or square and have a hand pump like the ones for the blood pressure equipment. You could pump up or down on the trail to your liking.

The price was right for the tire tube though, from my local Princess Auto store.

I will be offering this as a kit, lets say $100, air not included! LOL

Great idea and good execution.

I also thought of air for the seat a few years ago but wanted to make nearly the whole seat out of air tubes, just a inch or so of foam coving over long individual tubes. Could not find any info on how to make my own or how to take a heavy duty air mattress and cut up to what I wanted and reseal. Anybody know how or where to get materials or info? Nothing lighter than a hole filled with air unless its filled with helium!!!

Good Luck

Great idea, but it looks like if you filled it with air while off of the sled, the plastic base of the seat would deform, not allowing you to get the seat back on properly? Maybe a little bigger tube with a valve stem extension to allow you to do it while it's mounted so the plastic base doesn't crack or deform. Keep us posted.

Great idea! I would also wonder if you blew it up too much if you'd rip the staples for the cover. I like where your heads at.
