nitrous

Ok guys, what is your opinion on putting nitrous on an 05. I see there is a couple of kits on here for sale. I am a little leary of it on these engines because of the cranks. I haven't seen a lot of topic of this on the forum, so I just wanted to get some experienced feed back. Thanks

I ran it on my 05 since new...2100 miles and motor is getting turbo on it now, only reason Im getting rid of the NOS i have. As for motor, crank run out is tight, 05 pistons look good, compression is good heck even the 05 motor mounts were good. Believe what you want to believe but my motor is proof of fact a good maintained balanced primary and aligned clutchs is the key to the survival with or without NOS.

Have Boondockers synergy system on mine, adjustable from 20 to 70hp with the turn of the knob with no problems just run enough octane to keep from detonating. This year building turbo D8.

I had the same synergy system ( now for sale misc. sled parts )
i put 60lbs. of liquid nos through it in one season at 60hp shot with no issues,
was great but now turboing.

.......05 pistons look good...

SORRY A LITTLE OFF SUBJECT BUT.......

HIMARK...i know your extremley sharp when it comes to all this stuff...but please man..dump them 05 PISTONS before you lose a skirt and toast that baby...!!!!!!!

yeh man, just ask LUBA..he had the samething...mint motor with good 05 pistons and like 3000 some miles and then one day BAM...took it all out...

get the 06...ecspecially if your going turbo on that baby...would hate to see what could happen to it

so what are you running for a pipe, slp, or stock? this is the set up i have.
05, with 06 crank and pistons, (so I was told when i bought it). slp head, can, stock pipe. do i need to dump the head? I do run a touch of race fuel with the head just for my piece of mind. do i need to reflash the polaris computer to run nitrous, or does the boondockers box take care of this? the reason i am asking all of these ???s is because i can't decide to pipe it, or not, more hp with the nitrous, or both:rolleyes: thanks for all your input

hey bud..
sorry to hyjack your thread earlier..

well i bought my 05 900 with the boondockers Nos on it already and the guy before me used it quite a bit he said...he ran 30% race fuel in a full tank...he had the stock head, but with an SLP pipe/can..

i have since removed the stock head and installed the SLP head and have a CPI can now..i have yet to tun the Nos on it personally..but i think as long as you have your front motor mounts, intake boots in good shape, and balance your primary you are set to run it..

mine was set up for 30hp shots..

your stock can will work fine, but if you get a chance to get a used SLP can i would jump all over it...not worth buying one new for the price and minimal gains IMO, but used...heck yeh..

you DO NOT have to reflash your ECU either..just tune the box with the shot and rpms and your set..boondockers was very helpful when i called their Tech Dept and asked them a few questions..."junior is the guy i talked to, and he is the man for sure"

Yeah what he said! If I had one with the 05 pistons in it, I would not even start it till I swapped in the 06 pistons. Mine also looked good when I put in the full slp kit. I thought they looked great and re-used them. Big mistake took out everything but head and 1 cylinder. Now I have a HTG 975 and spare stock 900 motor.

Man I'd really like to try some juice on the old 9 but I'm scared........for my health and my sled. Is it worth doing? Any horror, success stories? I run it on my Dmax but it works completely different on a diesel, it's much safer than a gasser.
