Nissan's new Titan

Was just lookin these up today. I thought they were out already, but guess not. Toyota is supposed to be putting this same cummins in a Tundra in '16.

Would love to know how they pull and mpg's they'd get.

Ive been unable to decide on a new truck for over a year...

I've heard the same thing about the Toyota but it's all just rumor for now. I'd think mileage should be around the same or better than Dodge's new truck. I saw a video from an auto show and they said towing would be above 12,000lb. More than plenty for snow sleds.

The dodge 3.0 sounds nice, but I'm thinking in the long run, I'd be wishin I had a touch more. That, and Cummins... I can trust that name.

But, what's the difference gonna be between a Ram 2500 or 6.7 stroker fueling wise. Not to mention initial price. My old mans 2012 Tundra was flirting with F250 prices!

There is zero chance that it gets the same mileage as the ecodiesel. Its 2 liters larger and weighs 2000 more lbs. Its in the power ranger of the early 24v Cummins motors so I would guess similar mileage. Perhaps 24 hiway and 18 city. However the power will leave my eco in the dust.

I guess time will tell. All they said at the release was 20% better. (To what?) but heck I'd be happy with the numbers you threw out. Once this trend hits full swing and all mfg have contenders in this niche it's going to be tough truck shopping.

It's a pretty ugly/tacky looking thing in other pics I've seen, but the specs sound great. 8,800 is GVWR, 5.0L diesel, 555lbs torque.

So is this labeled a "1/2 ton" or "3/4" ton pickup? I guess the 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton names don't really hold true anymore in the pickup market. Towing and hauling capacities keep going up across the board. Whatever the smallest, full-size truck a company offers is just a "light duty" truck. Everything else in their lineup is then varying grades of "heavy duty." I guess that is part of the reason a "1/2" ton costs more than a "1 ton" used to.

Like you say - I don't know how much those terms still apply (although I still use them as well).

This would be a "heavy half" IMO....like a GM 1500HD, or those older Ford F150 7700's.

Say....in the Dodge lineup - the 1500 is ~6,800lbs GVWR, and the 2500 is ~10,000lbs.

This Titan is somewhere between 8,500lbs and 8,800lbs as I understand it. So the good news....legal with a 2-place sled deck :)

It really does seem to fit that 1500HD segment. They say 150,000 switch between a half and three quarter ton each year. They are after that market it seems.

What county is it made in??:help:

The 2016 Nissan TITAN XD will be assembled in Canton, Mississippi, with engines assembled in Indiana and Tennessee (5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel and gasoline V8 and V6 respectively). Pricing and full specifications will be announced at a later date.

I really like the idea of this truck, but man they missed the mark from the a-pillar forward.

That yellow is awful, but it looks better in that image than the others. It would have to take some serious growing on me tho, not liking the body at all yet...

I also have a feeling this thing is every bit the price of a f250, duramax or ram.
