Nissan Titan??????

well still haven't bought it, i have been looking around, but it's looking like i'll probably end up in the titan. I drove a couple tundras today, and while they're nice, just not my cup of tee. Also looked at a brand new Titan today, but changed my mind about that real quick when they offered me less than 6000 on my GMC. I thought usually New car dealers were better with trades, but apparently they think with their 6000 cash back they don't have to give people money. The used dealer made a bad offer but not nearly as bad as that. Which i expect it to be low right now. I'll try to get pics tomorrow, my wife left the cam at her mom's. Unless i decide otherwise.

I thought about a Titan a while back and remember seeing many threads about the 2004 models. I know there were issues with the brakes in that year (not sure about 2005's) and found a bunch being sold back to the public that were turned in as lemons.

So decided not to get the Titan, not cuz i didn't like it, but cuz the dealer doesn't know how "Bad Economy" works. Apparently he thinks it's a one way street. They want to give me $8000 below trade in value on my GMC but still want me to pay $2000 above retail value on the titan, Told the guy as much as i love the truck, I'm not a dumbazz. Said, I've bought alot of trucks and cars in my life and even been screwed on some, but i've never heard a deal this bad. He said well i have a dodge that we could work on. I said i don't want a dodge, and if i did i'd buy it somewhere else. Good Day!! I understand losing money on my truck, but should't that mean they mark down theirs a little. Funny thing is going by retail value, my truck is worth $800 more than theirs. What you guys make of this.

Gas hungry trucks are dropping in value.....literaly daily.
They have probably took the Titan in a little while back, and have more in it
than they should have....hence the high asking price.
They want to own yours right, so they will still be sitting ok even after it
drops more in value.

It is a lousy time to trade or sell a truck.:(

I agree with all that and expected to get screwed with my trade in, but i also think they should expect to get screwed on their end. Not as much as me, but they have to come down if they want to sell. Not to mention around here you'd think a GM would sell much fast than a nissan. You just have to think that a bad truck market should work on both ends.

I own a titan and it has been great, bought it new in 06. First month I owned it I went on a 16,000 mile road trip form alaska to the midwest, colorodo, vegas, utah, and canada while pulling a two place trailer with sleds and with all of our gear and a 110 gallon fuel tank, in december and january. I still averaged 14 to 15 mpg. I don't know what people are saying about bad gas mileage, because I have the big tow edition with lower gears and all and on average I get 18 to 19 mpg, which is better than my sister in laws tundra. That same Tundra has been in the shop multiple times and she has never towed with it or put any miles on it. In 45,000 miles, which have been mostly towing miles, the only time it has been in the shop other than oil changes is to replace the seat cover that frayed, which nissan did for free. Any one who complains about a 4n truck does not realize titans are made in the states, with 80 percent american parts, which is just the same as the others. I have nothing but good things to say about my Titan. It has been very reliable which is important where I live, it is very cold here. The only other truck I would buy right now would be a ram 1500 mega cab or 2500 hemi, they have a lifetime warrenty on the engine and drivetrain right now, which nobody can beat.

my moms '99 dodge with a 5.9 cummins 6 speed and mud tires averages 17 pullin 5 tons of hay id pay to see your tundra top 5 tons of hay up 3 mile hill and get 17mpg doin it

Man I've read some ignorant things on here but I think this tops them all. 17mpg pulling 10,000lbs? Dude I know the 5.9 gets good fuel economy (I know, I own 2 of them, a 93' and an 04') but your fooling yourself if you believe that. Besides your comparing a 1/2 ton gasser to a 3/4 ton diesel:rolleyes:.

All I am saying is the Titan set a standard for half ton trucks, just look at the pre titan tundra, and the post titan tundra. They doubled the size of the tundra after the titan came out. I could afford a 3/4 ton of 1 ton truck, but I don't need one, especially at the price of diesel in Alaska right now 5.25 a gallon. Most people who own those huge trucks don't use them to there capacity, I saw a one ton with duels, pulling a pop up camper, what a waste.

in the ad for the tundra they say it can tow 10,000lbs and show it suposidly towing 10,000 lbs.

have you ever seen 3 mile hill comming out of bonners? its only about a 6% grade but its just shy of 3 miles long, hence the name 3 mile

Nope never seen the hill. But I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night... The Tundra is a great 1/2 ton (read that fraction son). I'm sure it can pull 10K pounds, it might not set any land speed records doing it though. Oddly enough a 3/4 ton running diesel motor with a 150+ft/lb advantage at a rpm thats 2.5x idle pulls the hill better, whodathunkit?

i never said it would or wouldent pull the hill i was just saying what our dodge could do

We got lots of em around here, they seem to be fine as long as you're treating them like a LIGHT half-ton. Put a nice box cover on it, thick carpets on the floors and don't haul much weight, put on some 20 inch chromes, lift it a bit, they look real purdy.
Almost look like they could replace the trucks we depend on for workin pullin and haulin, till the BS stops and the hills get steep and the loads get heavy.
Then it becomes very apparent its just like the domestic half tons,..... cute.

Anyone who knows me knows full well that I am not a GM lover at all.

That said, if I could justify the purchase of a newer 1/2 ton right now, it would be a GM.
It would likely be a new one with 72 months of 0%;)

They are all nice in their own way, but overall cost of ownership is important to me, & the GM seem to shine there.
