Nissan Titan??????

I own a Tundra and am totally impressed. Has way more power then I need but having a mustang with a box on the back is definetly fun....these things are F'in FAST!!!
I was always an American truck kinda guy but if you sit there today and say foreign trucks suck then I'm sorry but your just ignorant. Resale, dependability and quality are better and plus NOTHING is made in America today. If it makes you feel better the Tundra is assembled in America.

I'd test drive them both, bet ya money you get a Tundra after stomping on that go fast pedal.

Well, Got a titan sitting in the driveway right now. Gotta say i love it, drove a couple, and a Tundra, all were nice, but the one in the Driveway has a lift with 20's and Toyo Open Country. Has K&N Cold Air Intake, and a flowmaster exhaust, and i gotta sa tis thing is Bad Azz. Alot different than GM.
I knew this thread would turn into brand bashing, foreign sucks... blah blah. Don't really care. Already have my own opinion on GM, all i've owned, and I'm ready for something that's going to last me a couple years without a couple grand in repairs. So I'm doing the paperwork on the Titan in the morning and will leave my american made and doubt i'll look back!! :D:beer;;)

Because the VP44, lift pump, cracked 53 block, weak front ends and cracking dashes were just plain awesome...

the vp44 isnt the best thing when it comes to IP's but its better than the stanadyne db2 that i have on my 6.9, the lift pumps suck weve went through 3 and then got a different pump. weve never had a prob with the front end or the steering box or the dash and for the block its went through -30*F many times unscathed so idk i like them so i guess thats all that counts

The foreign bashing only comes from those who have never owned one for any length of time.
Funny, even in Canada I hear it, and unless Obama invades and takes over, isn't everything an import to us?

By the way, Isuzu makes Duramax----better get rid of the rice burners GM boys and support those American designed and built......Tundras...lol.

Good on you... hope it treats you well.

07 tundra

i cant give any input on what they cost vs gm or ford but,
after totaling my 07 f250 v10 the replacement was a tundra
at 1st i was hesitant like any one that drives 3/4 ton trucks in the mtn but

look out this 5.7 from toyota is crazy fast, smooth and delivers 380hp stock
the auto 6 speed is sweet and theTRO suspension is like a sport car on the hwy and as good or better than anything i've driven offroad. So impressed i refuse to let my wife try it, she'll want one. Interior is comfty, and spacious. The audio is the best i've heard.

the gas mileage is worthy of purchasing one in itself. Going from a ford v10 unloaded ave 8mpg towing 5mpg. Tundra is ave 16-20mpg and it ***gin rips.
This new motor feels just like the LSI from chevy. Make sure you drive it before you buy, imo.

ive got a question for you then, why is it that ive seen powerstrokes transplanted into other vehicles and even more popular the cummins transplant, but why is it that in all my searching of franked vehicles ive never seen a duramax into any thing else?

I have to say all this talk about the tundra has me intrigued. Haven't bought the titan yet, But I'm a very shallow guy, and to me looks matter. I love the looks of this titan, And while the tundra is nice, it's just not screaming my name. I don't know. I'll have to take another look tomorrow.

You are a wise man!

????
Well I have no idea what you think I said,
but my point was that the hardcore GM/American built fans bashing Toyota probably aren't aware the Dmax is built by Isuzu, and the Tundra is actually built here......therefore that is humorous to me.....irony.....
GM guys unwittingly driving Japanese powered trucks while bashing imports that aren't imports?
Get it?

Truck

The "Paper" numbers really don't show how much the Trundra shines. The dual overhead cam, 4 valves per cylinder and variable timing stuff really gives them a huge power advantage over everyone else. They are able to operate at peak horsepower an TQ throughout a huge part of the RPM range. Mated to a silky smooth 6 speed helps a bunch to.

Couple companines (CR) did some pull test with all the half tons. 0-60 times pulling a 8000 pound load, the Tundra's closest competition was the 5.7 Hemi, it was 4.4 seconds slower than the Tundra. You would think with only 30 less HP Hemi would be within .5 to .7 seconds.

The Tundra's 0 to 60 times also beat all the oil burners to pulling a 8000 pound load, not buy very much though.

I presume they ran against the 5.3 GM motor or did they get the 6.0?

Anybody have a GMC with the 6.2L combo with the 6 speed allison?

The honest truth is that today all trucks should last you 200K. Any abusive owner will see parts break on any truck. And every company produces some lemon vehicles, it happens. Its a matter of interior features, comfort, and looks/style anymore. I would be happy with any 08 truck...

Post some pictures of the Titan. I think I'd go with the Titan over the Tundra, just because of the looks too. Both trucks are nice, and I'd love to have either one, but if I had to pick I'd go for the Nissan.

Uhhh what? I'm pretty sure swapping in a 5.9 6BT cummins into just about any truck is far more popular than the PSD. Theres a reason why such companies like www.fordcummins.com and www.destroked.com exist. Not to mention other companies offering wiring harnesses and motor mounts to swap in the 5.9. I've only seen one PSD conversion and it was in a magazine, somehow a guy shoehorned a 6.0 into a Jeep TJ.

Back on topic. Congrats on the new truck. I'm sure it'll give you many troublefree miles:)

yeah thats what im saying... if i can get a 24 valve im going to try make a fummins out of my 85 f-250. ive seen a couple PSD conversions, like that jeep but it was a pre-powerstroke 6.9 into a YJ. and look in the july issue of DieselPower and youll find a 6.4 into an old international pickup that was restored.

have you ever seen a duramax put into any thing other than that pimp my ride camaro?..... because i havent

who cares if a duramax hasnt been put in anything else? honestly does that mean its somehow inferior motor? PALEASE! LMAO...

Never owned a Titan but...I did rent an Armada to drive to Vegas and the stupid thing got horrible mileage. I am guessing that the drive train is probably the same on both the Armada and the Titan. I'd say that I was driving average (80 ish) and not really getting after it. Mileage was around 13ish if I remember correctly. All I know was that I had to fill it up with ALOT more fuel than I expected.
