Wow, cant believe that you guys think this is a bad thing?????? I think it is an awesome looking sled and the begining of a great opportunity for both manufactures to become the king of the hill!! light weight chassis and bullet proof engines=sled that rocks!! IMO

I think its a descrase for a company like Yamaha to not make their own chassis and worse if the consumer supports it.... So much for competition with the 2... What is this world coming to:face-icon-small-sad

iam not saying the chassi is bad but what a dumba$$ move to leave it looking just like the competition that will hurt them in sales.to top it off they make it out like its a huge thing they did its a chassi with 2 seasons on it that you can get a turbo from the competition from factory.i still dont get all the secrecy for a nytro motor in a ac chassi:cheer2:iam sorry as a yammi die hard iam disgusted iam sure it will pass but thats all i can say at this time.:face-icon-small-dis

As much as I do not like arctic cat they have a proven chassis that works well. With the combination of the Proven Chassis and a proven engine you will be able to buy a sled that will not need a whole lot of aftermarket goodies to keep you satisfied. Now that yamaha is building their mills they just need to come up with a clutch setup that doesn't explode and they will be set. Although I wish Yamaha would have put at least a little effort into making it different besides the windshield.

My opinion

I don't get it. Everything, but sleds, yammi makes is top of its class ( bikes, wheelers, music equipment, generators....etc etc). is it really that hard to make a good mountain sled!!!! It's always next year, next year.
WHAT A SHAME. Thanks again Yamaha, for nothing.

I just don't get why everyone is against it!! This will get Yamaha in the FACTORY BOOST.. The way it was everything came from Japan it is harder to import into the US and make them meet emmisions. Everyone that is against the Merger probably rides a Polaris and is scared of what it to come POLARIS CAN'T BUILD A RELIABLE ENGINE.. At least Yamaha and Cat aren't glueing the axle and chassis together.. Before you say what a big piece of crap it is and how this hurts both OEM's ride one.....

The more I look at it the more I like it. I am a former Cat guy...been riding Yamaha for 4+ years now and think that this could be a powerful combination if handled right. If Yamaha adds the motor and incredible fit and finish to electrical, chassis and drivetrain strength with the nimble handling that Cat is known for it may work out really well. All that said, I am still happy with my current Yamaha sleds so will wait to see it work out. :D

i think what everybody is mad about is its a 2 year old chassi that looks just like a ac,yammi die hards dont want to ride a ac the want to ride a yammi.i think if they would have just used the chassi & put there own look on it there would not be as big a backlash + allot of guy wanted a mountain sled & still no yammi sled a guy can just buy & ride:face-icon-small-con

The more I look at it I don't mined the look but what is the waight and were is the power the same motor as the nytro they better put a turbo on it for a mountain sled other wise you might as well buy a cat and get more then one year of woranty.
I love my yamaha but if cat is the same and they always have more woranty and they are going to have the yamaha motor as well then why knot but I would still rather my sled to say yamaha on the side.

I'm a die hard boosted Yamaha guy. I'm dissapointed that they didn't come out with a new chassis of their own. That being said, I also have a new boosted cat. I love the feel and ride of it over my 300+ horse apex, though it doesn't have the ponies of my apex...yet. I have rode plenty of nytros too and have to say I like the cat chassis better. Once I got past the same chassis aspect I got to thinking how nice the yammi reliability and clutching in this great chassis will be. Plus big horsepower still. All ready thinking I need to build a "vipex" with my apex motor :) as far as no mountain sled this year, order a cat tunnel extension, cat rails, maybe fab in a boondocker side mount turbo and have a great chassis with time proven power and reliability

looks like a genuine arctic cat. definitely not built in japan. self tapping torx head screws everywhere that will strip out after removing them 2 or 3 times.

chassis is all old technology riveted sheet metal, tubing welded and bolted....no precision lightweight cast aluminum bulkhead parts....really? Yamaha has incredible technology for this (so does polaris for that matter)

the gauge, key switch, 12v outlet, handlebar pad, switches scream made in china.

the header is a hack job

the japanese yamaha engineers must be ready to slit their wrists after looking at these pics

oh and don't forget your metric AND SAE tools when you pack your lightweight tool kit

RIP YAMAHA.

Die hard Yami guys and die hard Cat guys are...

a little pizzed, but the truth is just what some have said; Cat builds a chassis that works without big changes. Yamaha builds reliable engines. Cat doesn't think a non-turbo fourstroke is for the mountains. Give them another year, I'm sure you'll see a boosted Yamaha motor in mountain sled for both brands. I'm a Cat guy and reading all the trash some people here are saying about my sled, I wonder how do I get home after a ride. The truth is I have never blown a belt or a chain or anything else on my stock 1,100 turbo. I just ride. With a 1,000 miles on she's just like new. Don't let your brand loyalty cloud your vision. This new joint venture will be one worth watching.
