New track for Assault

Not sure if this correct but when was I was looking, only polaris can sell the 5.1 146 for the assault hence the $800 dollar price tag! So i went with the 2.5 camo and a drop and roll for less than that!

Only want to tell you, here in sweden the Camo extreme 155" costs 1319$.. No fun at all!

I would run the camo extreme, I have one one my dragon and a friend of mine has one on his assault neither one of us have dropped are chaincase there is clearance the track lugs are not that much longer then the stock ones. I know its not the perfect clearance but it still works

Boxer... He wants to use this on the trails at high speeds... The 2.5" track would not hold up to repeated use for this IMO.
But I do agree with you that the CE 2.5's are one of the best mountain tracks out there.

The CE will "FIT" ... but only has 1/4" of clearance (I've measured it) at the roof of the tunnel (where all the IQ-RMK's show rub marks). In anything but fluffy "blower" powder, it does rob HP from drag/windage. I had a long talk with Camoplast about this very issue, 1/4" is no where near enough clearance in order to not loose hp to drag.

If that CE in a RAW chassis has more clearance .... It will work much better and give better track speeds and load the clutches less than in the same sled with the same track with 1/4" clearance. Mark Holz... one of the best Polaris chassis guys out there agrees...which is why he made his conservative 5/8" drop for the chaincase on these sleds and installs it in all of his builds that run a tall lug track. Conservative in that it does not mess with the geometry of the sled too much but still more than doubles the clearance at the roof of the tunnel.

But then again... at an intended 85mph sustained TRAIL/Hardpack/Lake speed.. the CE is out of the picture anyway...too much leverage on the paddle causing heat/delamination a the root of the paddle according Camoplast... not just a matter of running scratchers either as the is heat buildup happens inside the rubber next to the belting line.

I know mine rocks with the camo extreme, I now see the post about going over 80mph. I have ridden mine in mccall running 60-80mph for 20 miles but I shot off in the fluff to cool it off several times. I would not recommend this track for mostly riding trails. If I have any money at the end of summer I will either do the holz drop or fastrax drop and roll. I have the luxery of having fastrax 5 minutes from my house. I beleive it would be improved with the drop but mone rocks w/o it and if it will make a big difference then I'll do it

Track clearance

Instead of doing a drop and roll when I installed my camo extreme 2.5, I cut the lugs down to 2.1 to get the proper clearance. I feel this is very similar to the F-Bomb track mod on the stock 5.1 without having to put screws in the lugs. The question is how much do you lose in deep snow performance as I did not have another sled to compare to after I did this and I only made it out west once this year. Any thoughts or ideas on this? I did notice great acceleration on hard surfaces and excellent control coming downhill.

why not just buy a 2.25

I have an 09 assault with both tracks. the comp and the 5.1 146... I have a turbo on mine and the 5.1 works well but the comp is what i like the best because i have the power to turn it in the deep snow. im selling my turbo w the comp track on it and i would sell you my 5.1 146 for cheap cuz im buy a 2011 pro and have no need for this track anymore.... just pm me...

I dont necessarily want to run at high speeds, just up to around 90mph. I might keep the stock track on it and wear it out, Im not sure yet. If I do change it over, it will probably be to the series 5.1 because the dealer will take my $500 for my cancelled snowcheck and put towards it. How does the 5.1 hook up on hard packed?

90 is WAYYY to fast for the Comp track... You'll be losing paddles left and right.... Make sure no one is following too closely!

The 5.1 would be a Pizz poor choice for hardpack and also at those speeds..

5.1 is horrible unless you are in dry fluffy snow. it will not hold up to speed either. personally would just get a drive shaft or drivers if it will work that has 2.52 off of a 900. and get a 2 in track which the pair should cost you less then either one of the other tracks. if the 900 drive shaft will work and you are interested I have one
