New to ski-doo

I just got an 04' rev 800. This is the first ski-doo that I have ever owned; couldn't pass up the deal. Anyway I want to set this sled up as a back-up(no huge mods, just make it run good). Anyone have any suggestions on what I should be working on?

04 800

To get the best info, you should post where you will be riding.

Here is what I did and it helped make it a good runner/rider @8-10K feet:
1. Pre-filter for keeping powder out of your intake
2. Dynamo S8X clutch kit
3. Ditch the swaybar if it's still attached
4. Ditch the precision skis for a set of Simmons
5. Set up the suspension for your weight and riding style
6. Aftermarket head

If you do a search on here you will find many more ideas that you can use or toss based on your budget.

Okay what i had to do is check the carb's they had a recall on them in 04 i guess and they had somthing wrong with them.... somthing to do with the carb... so check that. and i agree simmon's work's great on the rev's maybe if you want to get a pipe and a stinger for it?? unless it already has them? hope some info help's peace bud. peace:D

The 04 came with the sidehiller skiis not the precision. I honestly like the pilot skiis on my rev better than the simmons. The simmons were the best thing I had done to my ZX on the rev they are hard steering when going slow and they seemed to dive way more on my rev now they just sit on the shelf in my shop. Besides the pilots are half the price and lighter.

stock pistons and rings need to be changed at ~ 2000 miles as the keeper pins have a tendency to come out and allow the single ring to rotate and catch on the exhaust port--the stock rings also had a flaking issue. I bought mine last year, ditched the sway bar, put on an SLP can, simmons skis and a new set of Wiseco knockers this fall--now just waiting for some snow!!!:beer;:beer;:beer;

X2 I had Simmons skis, once I rode a sled with the Pilots I droped the Simmons. Both our 04 and 06 run with 6.9 Pilots...for the same reasons as above. Dino

Does any one know what this recall or update is all about for the carbs on this sled? I ownthe same sled and have never heard of such a thing

carb boots are the problem with 04 and 05 800's, and flakey rings. Update with 06 parts and no more problems.
