New to riding CO!!!

Welcome to CO. If you see a large beige 4-place trailer with a Vickery motorsports sticker on the side, come say hi. You're always welcome to join us, and we usaully have a spare becon, shovel, & probe. We usually leave the parking lot quite early (sorry for the early morning noise Bushy).

Lots of great places to ride in CO... Grand Messa, Rabbit Ears, Gore, Buff, Flattops, Corona, Wolfcreek (Southfork). Make sure you support the local businesses (gas, food , lodge, sled club, etc.) in those areas when you're there, and you'll make lots of friends in no time.

Fall into tree well...snow laden tree drops feet of snow over you.

Could happen...

just a good habit to get into

Always carry two way radios, and as funny as it sounds that exact thing happened once and had to use radio to guide friend in.:pound:

So tudizzle is kind enough to loan me one for a couple rides til I can get mine, way to nice of a stranger, I'm thinking the tracker1 for now, seemes to do the job and the price is reasonable, the PIEPS freeride although cheaper talked more about multiburial abilities. I know there is threads on this under avy section and I'm headed there now just wondered what u guys thought?
P

Wouldn't recommend the freeride as it's only a single antenna beacon, it's good for you dog or kids, but finding a beacon fast is hard with that unit.

Yea I saw that but didn't see if the tracker 1 was more than 1 antenna as well or what, seems that it is easiest to use by way of research but yet to have messed with any. I know obviously there are better ones out there for a price but it, tracker, seems to be the best in my range, haven't heard any downsides to it yet and seems to be a popular model...
Thanks for the input guys, would hate to get something only to find out there are problems with them you know?

P Money~

I live in Monument down in the area where tudizzle and skibreeze live...ride Rabbit Ears almost every Saturday during the winter with 4-5 other guys from the Parker area. If you ever see a long black American Hauler trailer with this sticker on the back and South Dakota plates...that's us:) Feel free to come by and ride with us...I always carry extra avy gear in my truck (since some bastards decided to cut the locks into my trailer up there last year)!!

Take care,

Oh, and almost all of us ride with the Tracker 1's...

Bought a spare off craigslist last year for a reasonable price...can't remember what I paid...but it was reasonable!

I don't actually work there, just a long time customer and friend. Me and a couple guys/gals help them out with marketing events and testing from time to time. Vickery is a great group of guys. They are having a MX openhouse tonight... I've heard rumors of sweet deals on helmets (and other MX gear) if you need one.

P-Money, I told you there were some pretty cool cats on here. You have my number whenever your up for riding. Sorry it didnt work out the other day.

Hi Guys/Gals!

Been lurking on this thread for a little while. I live in Grand Lake and know the area fairly well. I have Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays off of work and normally ride on those days. I have an Avy Bag, Shovel, Probe, and two Beacons (one to share) and know how to use them. I like to ride deep snow, explore in the trees, an occasional (safe) hill climb (gotta go to work on Friday!), and long romantic walks in the rain. I have a 07 Yamaha Apex (minus 100 pounds of mods) AND I just picked-up my 2011 Summit 800 Etech 163". I drive a Black F350 and a Black 4-place Enclosed Trailer, both with Texas plates (probably the ONLY snowmobile trailer with TX plates). I almost always park/stage from Idelglenn parking area just outside of Grand Lake. If you're riding on any of these days feel free to contact me (email is best, mtnmax2@juno.com). I enjoy riding with others who love to sled, any and all riding skills welcome.

Max

P.S. The early snow in Grand Lake is the best I've seen in years!

Okay guys/gals......I have been riding Snowies, Buff Pass, and the Ears ALL my life (sounds old huh, HAHA) I just recently scored a beacon while at Polaris Assault Camp part deaux......havent used it much because no one else has had one that rides with us, BUT I can honestly say that I NEVER take anyone into an avy or been in one either and I hillclimb, boondock, etc. and yes I understand the importance of these great tools, but also understand that the cost is high as well.....not trying at all to undermind any one here, just a comment, I do appreciate the fact that you guys do have the skills and equipment. I am sure my days are numbered as to when I will find that avy, but I try very hard to keep me and my group out of danger. Any how, hope you all dont find me offensive or mistaken (I have been told by many that I am a great "tourguide") I live now down by Fort Collins, grew up up by Steamboat and know the area pretty well.......I try and ride whenever possible on the weekends, if for any reason anyone wants to come along, I am always open to fun and exciting people that enjoy the sport!

Have fun out there and ALWAYS try and introduce new people to our hobby, we need all the support we can!!

Headed up to the south snowys one or two days between x mas and new years, and then again Jan 5-7th, holla...
