New to riding CO!!!

BCIL offers beacon training days several times a year. Also contact Mike Duffy (Snowww1) and find out when he is doing a class. I believe that thew Holy Cross Powder Hounds are trying to get him to do an Avy class for their snowmobiling club. If you don't have a beacon, I think BCIL still has a couple for sale.

I've seen some affordable used beacons in the swap meet and will be purchasing one for sure if I don't get one for christmas... so I'll prolly have to ride without once or twice...

It only takes once.....

If someone closer can't loan you one until the end of the year I have I have a loaner available.

I am south of Denver...shoot me a pm

I rode w/o beacons when I didn't know any better. Almost had a friend killed in an avy the very first time he ever went riding. You never know when you might need it. Find a way to get family to kick in and get one for X mas.

Between all the jackass's on this thread, We can cover your *** with avy gear till you get yours.
That would be sweet, I can do like 200 bucks or so for a beacon after x mas and still have gas money I think. I have just spent so much getting my sled up to speed and hadn't really put a whole lot of thought into beacons until I started looking at riding down here. The snowies don't seem to have much threat at least down south where we ride, I mean there is always a threat just only in certain places, but it seems apperant that I will need one for you guys to let me even come and ride. If thats what it takes then that will be my next purchase ASAP...

I'm pretty much in the same boat as P Money and from what I read, interested in the same kind of riding. I'm also looking for riding buddies when I come out west but low on avy gear. I too will do what it takes to get my butt qualified to ride with you fellas. You seem like a fun group of dudes, however, I don't touch anyone's Johnson but my own. LOL! What is the minimum you all require to qualify to ride with? Beacon, probe & shove? Level 1 avy class? Avy bag? I ride a Renegade Backcountry 800. I'm not much into highmarking or running verticle shutes up and over. My sled would not do that anyway. I like deep pow in meadows and rollling hills. I like to pick thru trees and sidehill. Small jumps too. Technical riding with a challenge but play it safe. I'll be out riding the week of the 13th and would love to hook up with you guys but would need to buy, rent, borrow or steal(jk) what you all require for riding with ya. Got the shovel and some internet education on avy's. Gota start somewhere right? My cell is 317-710-4396. I accept text too.

Sorry P. Not tryin to hi-jack your post.

Peace!

Mike

You may try contacting snowbigdeal and see what he can do for ya. he's usually a pretty reasonable guy.

I also have a spare probe, shovel and beacon. So if you ride in our group I can loan ya them for the day. Guys here razz each other alot but in all honesty I'd trust each and every one of them with my life.

So tudizzle is kind enough to loan me one for a couple rides til I can get mine, way to nice of a stranger, I'm thinking the tracker1 for now, seemes to do the job and the price is reasonable, the PIEPS freeride although cheaper talked more about multiburial abilities. I know there is threads on this under avy section and I'm headed there now just wondered what u guys thought?

Me and my buds ride with Tracker 1's.....they seem to work well. We've practiced several times with other makes/models including the Peips and Tracker 2's, and they seem to get the job done.
Welcome to Colo.....

crap, I was gonna ask WHERE exactly THAT place with no avy danger would be... but there it is.

There's GOT to be a hill SOMEWHERE at Church Park!!! (right?):face-icon-small-dis
