New to me '09 Assault need advice

haven't owned a Polaris in 4 years and just picked up an '09 Assault. I've read through every forum I can but still a little confused on what I may need to do to this thing to get it to hopefully run right for as long as it can. Sled has 1400 miles. It has a new updated mono-block and new 2-ring pistons and just had the newest reflash.

Runs good down long, mid-high pulls okay but not great. After riding it hard it will stall as soon as I stop. And it burns a **** ton of oil, about 1-1 fuel/oil tank respectively. Plugs have good color through first tank of gas premixed 50-1 (Amsoil Interceptor). it also has full SLP exhaust other than that stock. Clutching is stock black front with 60's at elevation 9500-12000.

What should\can I do to get this thing to run right and hopefully not burn down?

I been running the power comander with the slp map and am having good results with it so far, i just put on a camo extreme 2.5 track to and that seems to be working really well but i have yet to get in any really deep snow since i put it on. Read the sticky on clutching in the increasing your iq and you will get lots of ideas for clutching at your elevation.fox floats are a good upgrade also. hope this helps

start thread highjack:

hey there machinest660, i was thinking of doing the same with mine and putting on a CE 2.5, how's it panning out? is there enough clearance in the tunnel?

:focus: i have put on the PCV as well, and run the DTJ 157hp map with good results ... packing alot more fuel in in the mid-range. pulls hard, and plays nice in the deep! (still need a bit more track though)
also, i re-grounded the electronics tray with a ground strap from canadian tire....easy and a decent piece of mind for the VR and ECU.

The track is awsome so far, i will get a better idea later this week in the mountains, the clearence is tight but it does fit, I also drilled the holes and move the front of the rear skip up 3/4 of a inch and that gave it a better aproach angle. I am curently running the SLP single and switching between the slp and the dynotech map, they both seem to work pretty decent. I have not done the ground cable thing yet, i should prop get on that one of these days.:face-icon-small-hap

Ground cable? Havent heard of that one, does it help against burnt out VRs and ECUs? How to install, i have burnt mine tvice so i really like to know!

You're running 50:1 premix in the tank as well?? To me, this seems like a bit overkill, and actually counterproductive. A little bit of oil in the tank serves as little extra protection, but keep in mind that every little bit of oil you put in the tank replaces the fuel the engine receives. More oil in the tank means you are actually leaning out the fuel:air mixture due to flow through the injectors. Most recommendations you'll see posted point to 1 oz of oil per gallon. I bet you'll notice a little difference in running if you back off the premix.
