New to Cat What should I put on the M8 2010

Ok guys, I took the plung. I just bought a 2010 M8. My old ride is 07 Rev. My question is what should I put on the M8? I have read many post on what mods to add. I am just looking for the must haves for a Cat, since I am new to the brand. Here are my thoughts, please let me know if I am way off base:

Can-probably HPS
Gas can holder-not sure what type to go with, any suggestions?
Goggle holder-one or two?
Stock clutch weights 68g-I ride 7-10k.

Let me know if I should add anything else. Thanks! Can't wait to ride!!!!

Probably not the popular answer..but I say ride it as is for a season then after you got an idea of what you feel it's lacking, or where it excels then buy mods.

Must haves.

This is my short list of must haves
Knee pads.
Hps can is good, Speedwerx tunnel dump, or jaws. I think SLP has a kit coming that will be good.
Google bag
ice scratchers

Nice to have

side vents
HCR skies or what ever other kind you like i like the HCR mainly the are still easy to turn.
Light weight parts.
BDX chrome molly arm kit -10 Lb remove wheels from skid -3
light weight break -2
BDX ligt weight drive -8
Amp Pod or BDX when available
Tial Turbo kit Real nice.

That is my short list.

I noticed that the gas can is mounted in a metal rack that is attached to the sled. It looks like the can will be farily high off of the tunnel. I am use to the Rev gas rack that is low profile and is tucked up under the seat. Does anyone ever have problems hitting the can with their foot when shifting from side to side?

Just ride................

Most cans screw up the fuel calibration. I can't believe you'll use a full tank of fuel on a hard day of riding. They get better fuel milage than years ago. Stock clutching recomendations are good also. At least till ya screw it up with aftermarket products. No offence, but there must be a reason that new sleds seem to high mark old ones.

If your gonna get a can get HPS I love mine! It's worth the price. You just need one goggle holder. Side vents would be good. And maybe some powder pros if you plan on changing skis

I would not own an M series without a left hand throttle. It all depends on how and where you ride but I own 4 M's. All stock. If you read enough on this forum, you will find most people are trying to solve some problem caused by mods.

Powder Pros are the best bang for the buck. When you ride am M sled with stock skis after riding one with Powder Pros you wont believe the difference. The only things I would do to a 2010 is a can and skis. Spend the rest of your money on gas and take a few more days off work to ride.

Mountain Addiction Track Rack for your gas rack

I would get the Mountain Addiction Track Rack, for holding your spare gas. No straps, and work way better than any others.

I can't believe you'll use a full tank of fuel on a hard day of riding.

Now thats funny. My last ride out I burned through a tank in 4 hours and about 48 miles. On the plus side the 800 XP Summit ran out on the way back to the truck. So much for DOO's superior mileage. To be honest though we both took the same amount of gas, the DOO's just have a smaller tank.

Be honest.............That was on your Poo

The '09 and 10 Cats are running quite lean. I was pleasently surprized with my Cat. I hauled gas for others I guess.

Easy Decision

Do a can to lose some weight. You don't even need a gas rack unless you're doing more then 80 or so miles a day, but Mountain Addiction is a good choice. Powder Pros or Gen II's are another good choice and you're to FKA!! Wait till next year to really mod the engine nothing is coming out right now that can add serious HP (except a turbo) for H.O. mill. Nice choice, I'm lovin' mine! If you have the bucks maybe lighten the sled up....A-Arms, etc.

I'm pretty much a break-in expert...If you would put me on the seat of that thing for the first 1000 miles or so, I'm sure it run stronger!
