I used to certify radar for the state of Minnesota. Strict guidelines for all regulatory equipment. If you do get a ticket, go to court and request the calibration documentation for the equipment used on the specific date. My bet is that they will not have it, or it is not done within the guidelines. Temp. barometric pressure etc affect db ratings. If they do not have all of this at the time of your test, it may be inaccurate.

Do they compensate for "Moon Pull"?

Atmospheric density changes based upon the presence or lack-there-of of the moon's gravitational pull in the second and fourth quadrant of lunar cycles?!

What's the db level of a shotgun or rifle under the same test situations?
