New Sled

Hey looking for a new sled but not to sure what to get
last year I rode my 98' powder special600efi to the max, being my first sled it had its share of roll-overs and crashes and never whimpered once, but i want something with a longer track than a 136 to keep up with friends on newer sleds
dont want to spend too much cash
was thinkin of a 01-03 rmk 151 or maybe a Mntcat 800?
any suggestions would be appreciated

I think both of your ideas are good ones. The Mtn Cat is definitely going to "feel" the most like your Powder Special. I had one and I absolutely LOVED the torque. It's a bit heavy in the front, but the torque of that 8 really makes up for it. Just turn with the throttle!

The edge chassis Polaris 800 ('02 through '05) was absolutely awesome. It doesn't have the torque of the Cat, but it feels lighter and seems to float alot better. You can't go wrong here either. I'm kind of a Cat guy though and I'm used to it's feel. The motor seems to hold together better in my opinion. (If you get the Cat, make sure the piston recall was done - then it will run and run).

I would love a newer cat like a M7 or M8 but there a little out of my price range
$2000-3200$ is what i can afford and the low mileage M7s that iv seen are around $4000-5000 so yeah,
what about the 00-03 summit 700/800?

The 02-05 Polaris 700 is a tough sled to beat for the money. I have a buddy that bought an 04 Polaris 800 159 last year and rode it once and then got sent to Iraq. Ill bet that he would take $3500.00 for it. It has about 1300 mile on it and is super clean. PM me if you are interested. It has an SLP single on it, I rode it last year, seems to rip

Mr.Konkin...

I know who u are. Did you sell that CRF yet???

Tell your old man to buy you a new one! Richest man in thrums!!!

My buddy might be selling his 2002 RMK 800. Goes pretty good. His bro has a 2000 rmk Gen II also. Might want to sell it too.

Spoon always has something too at the Junction. Canadian Power Machines.

K-town is expensive for sleds so id look more out here.

What are you going to haul it on? Your dirt bike?

Good luck and let me know if your interested.

If you can't find an m7 I would look for a 2003 or 04 polaris vertical escape. They came with electronic reverse and were an awesome sled. Out of the box, nothing would touch them in the mountains, until ski-doo come out with the 03 1/2 summits. The revs ran better and rode lighter. I would buy an 04 rev summit. I didn't care for the 01-03 summits. The rmk's ran better. There were some crank issues on the rmk 800's.I don't think there was on 700's.
my choice:
01-03- polaris rmk
04 to present- skidoo rev
m7 is an awesome sled but still a 700

You could find a 03 151 900 m1 for that price range. It was about the best sled made that year, with a few cheap mods they handle real well and will still hang with all the new sleds. But like said before, if you could find a early build m7 id go that way. The frist year they came out was the best year, seemed like the motor was a little stronger.

I have an 07 ski doo summit 600 sdi for sale right now for $3000. 144 track.

As bad as it sounds, that 600 would be a better sled then both of the 800's.

My old ladies is a blast to ride and would climb with those sleds quite easy. Impressive sleds, for sure!

Sounds like a great deal too!

Mr. Konkin. Where r u???

That Summit 600 would be great especially for that price but its way too far away too bad:(

and yeah I still got my 250 but would be willing to trade it for a newer sled

Where are you at? I may be delivering some sleds and making a trip up to Boise in the next couple of weeks.
