Just read the Nov issue of snowest.
They state "new ski" . Is it true? Is the 2018 ski different?

Looks the same to me. Guess I really didn't pay attention too much when I took them off. What I wouldn't want are the skis to tip up any more than the 16+ ski. I'm not a fan of that compared to the grippers, I think it makes the sled less predictable.

So, even with new ownership, cat is claiming one or two year old changes as "new" ...... too bad.
Or is this a Snowest mistake?

Skis?

i keep asking & No answers; '17 Yamaha MTN ski. Snowmobile.com claims it is a great ski on the PC chassis. It would not require any plastic Fab like the Gripper & should retain the adjustable 34.5 to 38.5 stance????? Could it be as good as the Gripper on the PC?:bowl:

Is it stiff like the Cat ski or more flexible like grippers?

New issue of snowest says the new Yami ski has a less aggressive keel and has little grippers on the top. That's about all I know. Local Cat dealer also does Yamaha so might have to go in and compare if they have them both on the floor.

If the difference with the cat ski is that the front is pulled up then they could have done that with just a shorter ski loop without having to change the ski mold.

I thought the new cat ski was almost identical to the gripper skis other than the stiffness. Has anyone tried cutting out the center stiffeners in the cat ski to see if it would make them more flexible? That appears to be the main difference between the grippers.

after a few good rides the cat skis are not stiff, they are flimsy in comparison to polaris skis ive been around.
