new ski doo, or dont?

What's funny is to hear all you guys bash skidoo while your heads are still in the ground from 2008-2015 on that POS motor you guys kept buying. What's funny is I did too!!!! I've now switched after being a total poo tard and can't believe it took me this long. Great ride, bad engineering!

I think the new doo is a great sled for doo riders. They didn't fix any of the things I dislike about doo, such as the wide tunnel/track, horizontal steering, and wobbly skid. Plenty of guys like all those things about doo though, just not for me.

I was thinking the same thing. It's a home run for ski doo to keep their faithful for another year or two. Honestly if doo wouldn't have done anything they would've been extinct in my group after what the axys did this year.

My thoughts exactly. Out of the four t-3 owners that I am good friends with, and ride with almost weekly, two will be on an axys next year, and the other two are waiting for a demo ride on the 850. But after letting all of them spend quite a bit of time on mine with an SLP single, I am guessing it will be a hard sell.
The axys stock is an amazing sled. Throw a pipe on it, and it is a 400 lb. mountain weapon.

This new doo chaise has the bigger footprint on the snow, has 20 additional hp over the poo, also has less rotational weigh over the poo.. Everything ballenced ..

I don't think either manufacturer has posted what the weight of all their rotational components are. While doo seemed to do a great job with taking weight out of their clutch and track I haven't seen any numbers that say it is lighter than poo with the quick drive.

Brp took a huge jump with this G4.. Motor is a state of the art power plant, with combined years of testing

Even the previous Etec motor was a pull and go motor day in day out..

as for the poo, they seam light, technology far from doo, quality less superior and reputation not the best..

Need to get out yourself on a test ride of them both and compare them, weight should be with in a few lbs ready to rride

20 hp?? 155 to 165..... Hmm Good Math you do!! Less Rotation mass? Heavier, track very heavy chain case and heavier secondary clutch? pretty funny.... and Balanced? Polaris isn't balanced.. please explain!

Don't feed the troll.

I am schooling my Doo loving buddies every weekend with the Axys. It for sure is going to take more than a 50cc boost to fix what is wrong with the Doo Mtn sled. There is just no contest and I rode with a '15 163, '16 154x3 and 174x3 sleds. They all feel like they need 20hp to help keep up LOL.

I also completely agree with icr, they didn't fix what was wrong...

Am I the only one who notices the shift in emphasis on the "weight" issue when it comes to the new doo doo (aka less fat girl)??? It really is a feeble effort, and at the end of the day, will get no traction, except in the doo forum perhaps. I guess they can crow and parrot all they want..lol

The doo doo guys say "less rotational weigh over the poo, and that it weighs less RTR"

The bottom line is what they weight dry...period!! There is no other way to accurately compare them. Some have larger or smaller gas tanks, some have less or more oil capacity, some have less or more coolant capacity. Too many variables to compare otherwise unless one adds exactly the same fluids to each sled. Then, whats the point?

The yammi guys tried to compare the sleds with snow packed on them. Any fool could see through that propaganda video. Nice try though. Next thing will be weighing them with a rider included and calling that "Ride weight". Even a yammi could be in there if they had a 120# rider compared to a 300# rider on the AXYS . .lol

And NO, the doo does not go farther on a tank of gas than the axys. 100% of the time i have ridden with a doo, they had less gas than me at the end of the ride.

Cant wait to see the new and improved AXYS. She will be a sleek, slender, sexy machine with tons of doo kicking powaaaahhh!! :)

Brp dynoed the Etec 800 at 155 hp and the same dyno got 165+ out of the new 850 G4

Dyno teck dynoed the 800 Etec at 164hp and the latest Polaris 800 at 155hp

This would lead us to believe that when dynotech gets the new G4 850 on its dyno it will show 175hp minimum

Using above numbers the new 850 should produce twenty more hp over the poo 800 at dynotech once they dyno the two

brp has dropped rotational weight in Crankshaft, stator drag, primary, lighter geraring, 6 lbs over poo alone on same size track.. Big wheel kit standard now, larger six tooth drivers

HAHAHA! Definitely an ugly lookin ride but the real unfortunate thing is it'll be passing by my THIRD broken down POO piece of garbage sled cuz Idiots like me keep buying these lemons with defective motors & stupid a$$ belt drives as Im getting towed in. Looks ugly but its 10X the sled Poo is.

Hmm, the horsepower ratings thread has Dyno Tech rating the Poo motor at 152.5 and the Doo motor at 158.5, a 6 HP difference. Given that the Doo Summit X dry weight as listed by Doo is 457 and the Poo is 408 it would take 170.8 HP from the Doo motor to equal the Poo motor in HP per pound. Now that the Doo is listed at 434(?) the new 850 would need to put out 162.2 to equal the Poo in HP per pound.

152.5/408 = .3737745098 HP per pound
158.5/457 = .34682713347 HP per pound

.3737745098*457 = 170.81 HP needed to match
.3737745098*434 = 162.22 HP needed to match

So what happens when Poo drops weight and increases HP again tonight? Hmm ......

Lighter DOES make a difference

I'm going off the numbers Jim got from the last shootout he did At dynotech.. Pretty sure he will be getting this new 850cc on the dyno real soon

As for weight I don't think there weight will be much apart with similar tracks on each ... And Yes light weight rules
