"New Single Track Trail" Sidewinder

Let me know what you guys think of Sidewinder! I spent all summer working on it-Also I want to do a night ride on it some time soon! If I can get an takers?

Sorry I'm doing a bike bashing ride in Pitkin on Sunday! I'll post the video- I hope you guys make a video as well!

Yes-Montrose- If you like Sidewinder-I Have a few more trails I can turn you on to- I left a lot of fun rock sections in it- also the north end Last 2.5 miles has some exposure so if you have weak riders-tell to take the road-

Sweet. How does the trail, other than being longer. Compare to Skull and Crossbones?

Sidewinder- stays on grade better-But it has more offcamber turns-and sidehill ledges- also some of the step-ups rock are a little harder- what makes this trail good is that you have to ride clean the whole time-one minor mistake can ruin your day- It took me 3 hrs to ride from peach valley to h75rd and back. I was on my race bike at A rider race pace- I broke my left foot peg off-crushed my rear brake pedel-broke one hand guard-and my clutch lever-(more damage than endurocross did)I can ride it without carnage but I have to slow down- The video is shot on my work bike so I don't rage on it much(not good PR) good luck take your time and you guys will have a blast!

Holy ****... :face-icon-small-sho

This is going to be awesome... BTW you A riders impress the hell out of me.. I bet you know Ruxton.

Bauer does Sidewinder... The Story..

First of all I would like to thank Al for the info.. For you fellas that ride dirt bikes, put it on your bucket list. For those of you that want to pedal it, you don't have to worry about a bucket list because you are immortal..

8 of us chose to tackle this trail today. We only made ~15miles of it, due to the flat tire listed below.

Damage report: 2 clutch levers and a flat front tire.

The day started like any other. Giving each other crap, a lil smack talking and whatnot. I made sure to down as much water as I could before we left, I hate heat. And there was plenty of it.

We left the parking lot at about 10am or so and hit up Eagle Valley. Fun trail, I had never ridden it before and it was still a little cool outside. All is well. At some point Sidewinder started, I don't really know where because I was holding on for dear life.. This continued for some time.

5 miles in. All still :face-icon-small-hap

6 miles in. I dump it the first time. I must not have noticed one of the 14,000,000 rocks. No biggie, dust off and away we go.

8 miles in. Since I was being careful after dump #1, I was hugging the uphill side of one of the 4000 or so side hill climbs. Got a little to close to a tree and hit it with the handlebar.. So me being me, I over corrected and hit the throttle. This sent me off the bad side where the bike landed about 10 feet off the trail and I found myself running down the side of a rocky hill trying not to die. You know that kind of run where your feet are trying to keep up with your body. Ya, that was me. After everyone stopped laughing. It took 5 of us to get the bike back to the trail. No biggie, dust off and away we go.

Keep in mind several others had dumped it many times. It seemed to be a theme today.

Moving on

10 miles in. The 2 fellers bringin up the rear cry for mercy, and take one of the roads out.

12 miles in. This trail doesn't let up. Not even a little. The rocks are everywhere, and seem to be getting bigger as the day has gone on..

14 miles in. Joe gets a flat.. Praise Jesus!!! I didn't wish anything bad on him, but I needed to sit in the shade and chill for a while. Hands were numb, arms like spaghetti. Bikes without fans were HOT, etc. Somehow the new tube got a hole in it too and that ended our day. He limped his bike out to the next road and we headed back.

Don't let this freak you out.. The trail is really fun and challenging. (the first 15 miles anyway, I haven't seen the "good stuff") It's just constant, you don't get a break unless you stop and take a breather.

Only got 2 pics of the trail.

Bauer- Great report- I was laughing the whole time-I didn't want sugar coat how the trail rode- I hope you had a good time- I have been involved with several new trails in are area and over time they all become easier, this one will as well. The nice part about it is you have options(roads) if the trail becomes to much. We did Pitkin today and it was great as always! I forget how rocky and tough it is until I get there. Here are a few pics of are ride, I will post a video later this week. I other thing it was very hot at over 10,000 ft. it had to be a cooker out there for you guys today. Let me know when you are game to do it again! I would love to hook up with you guys.

It was a genuine asskickin Al. Now that I have ridden 3/4 of it, I may just have a buddie come over, get some beer and beat the hell out of each other with 2X4's to ready me for the remaining 5 miles..

I'm going to finish that trail... But I'm going to wait for it to cool off some. :face-icon-small-coo

Sorry i chicken'd out..... well not really...

We ended up on the Mesa, after lunch. Pulled a 45mi loop, got kinda muddy.
But atleast it was 74 degrees.....ahhh.....

Let me know when ya head back to sidewinder...but i got no fan on the bike so let's shoot for 85 deg or less...

SSWIM- we rode Fairview,Gold Creek,Fossil,Mc Intire and ended with go fashion butt kicken on Bear trail. That's a neat area and alot less people than Taylor or CB.
Bauer and Powder Patrol- The night ride will be alot cooler and you won't even see the cliff edge you could fall off of! Bauer, next time you come out start on the north end( H75Rd.) it is worth seeing and doing. The temps should be about perfect during Rifle hunting season. That's when alot of us stop riding the high country.
BTW-just got done watching Slednecks13, I think a few of those guys in that video have an issue(or two) to work out! Chris Burnandt's clip-was the best part of the video-IMO
