"New Single Track Trail" Sidewinder

Looks like a blast. Could you please post more info regarding this? And also, could you post it on B C R . com? There quite a few dirt riders that don't come to SW that would like to get that info too.

Basically, I would like directions to the area. I know how to get to Montrose but the roads that were shown in the vid I don't know. Is there a fee to ride it or is it on BLM and on Public. Is there a club that built it that could use members? You know, general stuff.

To get to the Peach Valley OHV Site you turn off HWY 50 onto Falcon Rd. about a 1/2 south of Olathe's stop light. You travel east for 3 mile and the road turns to dirt and is call Peach Valley Rd. Then after a 1/4 you will see a large staging area to your right. This staging is where you park and from you ride up a 1/2 mile trail call Eagle Valley Tr. This connects you to Sidewinder. You can also go to Austin, Co and the road that runs thur the middle of the town is H75 road, if you take it back to the east for about 3 miles you find the other trail head. The Peach Valley site has free maps that show Eagle Valley Tr., but not Sidewinder is not on it yet. The area is BLM and has a ton of great riding. You can link the trails to make some epic loops.
The trail was designed and built by the Montrose BLM Trail crew. They also recieved help from Youth core and bicycle groups. There have been several trail building days for volunteers and they are talking about a grand opening of the trail some time in the future. I will post it when they pick a date. The trail is open for use and it is a good one to ride when we are snowed out off the high country.(not enough to sled on) Hope the info helps!

Sweet! Asap, I'll check it out. Maybe Bauer or Bohica will join me!

Falcon road is just south of Olathe the sweet corn capital of Colo! If i'm correct its the road the heads up to chucker trail, which is the most painful hike for some sick gunny fishing.

Maybe this weekend??

I'm more of a twister than a pedler-but I see pedler tracks on it all the time. If you do ride it give some feed back. I spent alot of time working on this trail and I'm always open to suggest. Also I would like to be able tell pedlers the best way to ride it. I will be out at Peach Valley site teaching a MC class on Sat. If your out there come say Hi! I might be able to give you a mini tour if I have time

Just talked to a buddy that works for Stay the Trail. He says he's only ridden 4 miles of it and it's "fun" with "tricky spots" I wonder what the other 16 miles are like.. :face-icon-small-hap

i hope you are not mad but i posted this great info on thumpertalk.com in the rocky mountains section.. thank you for all your hard work to make more single tack and i hope to make it there from aspen

Ridin Ak- Perfect- that's what the forum is all about thank you- The BLM has had very little feedback about this trail-It is time to let them know we like it and we need more of it. Karin Tucker is the area BLM manager in Montrose if you like tell her why? also someone was talking about the Stay The Trail Guy- If it is Justin- I took him on this ride -Check this Video out of him on Bertha's Crotch -http://www.youtube.com/user/MontroseOHVTrailCrew#p/u/13/0tC3YJRSePQ
we have some great trails for pedelers and twisters! IMO one way to keep them open is let people know about them! and fight for them when someone else wants to close them!
