New or Used Sled

Ok, guys here is my story. I have been on trail sleds in the past, didn't think that was very cool. Then last month a friend of mine who has two mountain sleds took me out. Now that is fun, and I was hooked. Now I have rode a couple of friends different sleds and have a pretty good idea what I want.

My question to the group here is new or used sled? I have enough money for both so that isn't a big issue, some people I speak with say get new. You get a warranty and so on. Some say buy used because you are going to wreak your first sled. What are the thoughts of this group?

Any good input would be great. Thanks...

Depends on price, a few years ago I would have never bought a new sled because of the prices, now, the market is so soft, depending on what you want, you can get a new sled for 8000-9000. As low as 6500 for a good, new holdover. I bought a 09 XP before the end of last season for 8G.

YOu can get a current used sled for 6000-7000, with few miles on it, and some with a warranty. That is the route I would go, not because you are going to crash, but because of the cash saving, let someone else take the hit. You'll loose $2000+ once you take it off the lot.

Lots of good used sleds out there. Thats my opinion.

I was thinking about waiting until fall of this year and look into a 2010 hold over and also going the route you are talking about. Lot's of sleds around the area so plenty of options.

When you buy used you can never be sure that the guy your buying it from isn’t a squirrely lil basterd, when you buy new you know what you’re getting and you get the warranty to go with it.

New or used you should definitely get insurance.
