new coated wiseco pistons, anyone using these???

heres a pic, they sure do look sweet. called wiseco and talked with them. said they had spent a lot of time reshaping the pistons and with the coatings had seen no swell related problems... builders i've talked to say side clearance can be obtained by honing?

no way extensive honing keeps a true cylinder...the drill alone thrusts heavier one side..honing is good for deglazing but not meant to remove material accurately in my opinion...boring bar is the only way...so nic thickness is an issue...bore and renic for a wisco..??..wiseco know the stock specs...they should be able to get really really close..??

when i get the top end apart am gonna check and see how close they are. if they're on the money i'm gonna use them. if they are way off i'll send em' back. seems like with the coating, which is costly to do on your own, they'd rip!!!

This reminds me of an oil thread.... A few people that have bad luck with a product will make a lot more noise than the people with good luck.

I run them in every sled I've got, but......... they are all Polaris so whatever difference that makes??? And I've never changed one after putting it in and the oldest sled I have running them is a 92 that I sold last year, and it's still going, pistons were put in in 2004 (and it's far from stock)

They will include a clearance spec sheet with the kit so you'll know what they need to be. If you don't pay attention to the clearance or installation instructions, you'll likely be on here complaining about them.

To answer your ? as to the difference is Pol was using a cast iron sleeve and A/C uses nicasil why that matters i dont know. But every one we did the pin came out the ring turned and piled up the cyl. Then Wisco would pay for boring and sleving to cast iron and then it would work for whatever reason they did not like the nicasil. Maybe the new ones will be good but as i said earlier i wont be using them to find out but i wish anyone who does the best of luck.

if and only if they are close i think you would be fine with a proper startups/breakin...im am sure you would be better off going your first hundred miles on good non synthetic oil and being careful then after all as normal with just good warm ups...i know my pistons are coated and they still look real good looking at them through the exhaust or power valve
