New AXYS setup

just picked up a holdover 2016 155". i'd like opinions on the direction i'm gonna go with some mods.

-belt drive pulleys and 8t driveshaft from a pro
-bikeman pipe
-SLP mag force weights
-clip track with unguided clips
-some sort of can, bikeman full velocity perhaps.
-raptor spring kit

I'm thinking this could be a ripper for relatively cheap money.

Any other opinions? I'm coming from the skidoo world

Other than not being a bikeman fan and preferring the SLP pipe setup, you are on the right track. I always tell myself it'll be cheap... $3500 later my sled was ready to rip...

Slp pipe, carls clutch setup, pro-ride quickdrive pulleys (gears it down if you use 7t drivers) and a carls revalve on the shocks. Love my setup. It rips

If you want the 8tooth driveshaft you will have to get a gear down kit from kurts or tki. The pro ride pulleys won't gear it down enough and you won't be happy with the performance. Just the pulleys will gear it down though with the 7tooth drivers as stated above. There is a guy selling a Kurts gear down with 8tooth driveshaft for $650 in the for sale section.

Using pro gears and 8 tooth drivers would make it the same as the pro ride chassis was. Not really that bad

It is not necessary to gear down that sled. Very little gain (if any) and pretty much a waste of money. There are people everywhere who will sell about anything to anyone . . .and of course it's always "important" to get what they are offering. blah blah blah Don't fall for it :)

Raptor triple rate springs is a good add on, but not necessary if you do a re-valve from Carls on the stock shocks. Combining Raptor TRS and Carls re-valve is VERY nice!!

SLP pipe and can with Carls clutching is spot on!! No need for any other brands. This set up just plain WORKS!!

Coming from a doo doo . . .you will LOVE this sled :)

You may not gain huge performance but the clutch belt life certainly increases with a gear down. At least double we find over several sleds and riders.

I think i'm going to scratch the 8t drivers for right now and just run the stock drivers with Pro belt drive gears, which showed up today :) We'll see how it goes.

You guys have me second guessing on the pipe now, does anybody have any solid feedback on the jaws pipe? with the exchange rate right now this pipe is VERY appealing.

I know kelsey at rktek loves the jaws stuff. I love my slp setup

I have consistently seen 800 to 1000 + miles out of a belt with none coming apart. So if there is a "gain" to be had, it is very minimal if any. I just dont see the benefit of a "gear down" kit except making one's wallet a bit lighter. I'd say if a person has the extra money to throw that direction . . .go for it :)

well I picked up pro gears for $100 so i'm not out a ton of its minimal gain.

Lots to learn on this new sled. The SLP stage 2 kit appears would be a great bang for the buck as well. decisions decisions.

The gain can be a lot more than you think. What final drive numbers have you tried ?

BMP pipe ypipe and GT tuner is the way I would go with a pipe have one on my 16 and 17 and flat out rip huge gains way more than a SLP set up by far and the GT tuner is awesome I have not had a single issue in my 16 rmk running from Wisconsin to West Yellowstone not one single glitch

Gearing down will pay off a few belts for sure. Pro gears just make sense. I love my 2.41 gearing on my pro. Belt wear is a fraction of what it used to be. Of course you need TRS clutch setup as well.
