new assault cutting out ?

Hey guys just picked up a new assault ..took it out for the first time yesterday and the motor has been cutting out on me .. has done it about 5 or 6 times so far in the first 20 miles... the dealer told me this was normal for break in? ... wanted to know if any of you guys have experianced this ??

make sure you have the nonethanol resistor in it if you run non ethanol fuel, then just ride it till its thru break in..it will clear up...all sleds came from polaris with the ethanol chip installed..most dealers left it in...

Not normal. Make sure the ECU harness is fully clipped into the ECU. They can be hard to put in.

My PRO has done the cut out on a couple of rides and then fowled a plug. After changing flowed plug cut out went away. I believe plugs fowled during warm up as in both cases the cut out happened at start of ride and was not there at end of prior ride although rpm was down about 300. I will also be checking ECU plug.

I had a cut-out...felt like the kill switch was hit for about 1 second, and then normal running...

My riding partner had it two or three times, same day on his Pro...I have 5hrs, he has 7hrs

Had an air bubble in the cooling system that caused a temp spike over 200 degree on longer pulls and the protect mode would kick in... Turned out and pointed the sled down hill and the temp would immediately go down to 125ish... Bled the cooling system - no more problem.

I have also seen the more intermittent very brief cut out on a friend's sled while making full power pulls... maybe 2-3 times in a full day of riding, but not real clear what's causing that one. This sounds more like your problem than the cooling issue I was having.

Is it under accel or decel?

Mine felt like it was on deceleration but I am new to this engine and ride characteristics.

Friend of mine is having the same proublem at wot. The sled has 5 hrs on it it's been doing that since 0. Mine has 2.5 and did it one or twice in the first hour. I hope we don't have a repeat of the dragon. Both of us are running non ethonal plug.

Mine did the cut out when I pinned it about 5 times at start of second ride then stopped. Next trip RPM was down about 300. Pulled plugs when I got home one was wet so I changed it. Next ride no bog and RPM back up. The next ride sled loaded up a little during warm up and then cut out twice right after leaving truck then ran fine all day. When I go home sled fowled a plug. Changed plug seems to run fine. I am thinking that the extra oil and fuel during break in may have hurt plugs also am going to monitor during warm up to keep it from loading up. Friends I ride with has a PRO and it has not had and issue with cutting out. If mine does again I will take it back to dealer and have them look at it. Also plug caps need a little dielectric grease had a hard time getting them off had to pull hood.

Mine did the same thing 3 times the last ride, I would go wot then after about 5 sec. it would cut out for about 1 sec. just like the kill switch was turned off and then back on. I am glad I am not the only with this problem. My sled has about 4 hrs on it.

Mine cutout once at about 3 hrs, still had the ethenol resistor in it for break in. So for the next tank of gas I put in the non ethenol resistor and it has run perfect. The sled now has about 11 hrs and 338 miles on it

Not normal. Make sure the ECU harness is fully clipped into the ECU. They can be hard to put in.

mine came completely off the second ride, it is the big plug right behind the oil res. my buddies was still hooked up but when we pulled on it, it came right apart. it takes a lot of force to get this connection to "click" together. would most defiantley give it a tug...

checked my plug and sure enuff when i pulled on it it came out...i pushed it back together untill it clicked.. going to change the plugs out also and take it out a little later and see if it still cuts out ... Thanks for the help guys

Towed mine out at the end of my second ride. Sled ran flawlessly till that point with the non-eth plug in the whole time. Took it to the dealer and it was the TPS wire zip-tied too tightly to the frame and came unplugged. It would idle roughly, but wouldn't rev high enough for the clutch to engage before cutting out. Seems like they were a little lazy on wiring on this model :face-icon-small-dis I'm just glad that's all it was. Love the sled!
