New 4 Stroke Mountain Sled

Still have my old RX1 with the MC Turbo on it, but a few months ago my buddy bought the local Arctic Dealership and asked me to come work for him so I did. We built some M-8 153" and 162" Turbo sleds while we waited for our Z-1 1100cc Factory Turbo sled to come in. Well we got it and it came with a 128" track. We made a new tunnel for it, shoe horned in a 174" track, built a new exhaust, installed a D&D fuel and boost controller. I'm just doing the clutching, gearing and boost pressure set ups now, but I can tell you there will be some very surprised people out there when we go to the mountains. This thing revs 7600 to MAX 7800 RPM so the Torque numbers are unreal! Its capable of 230hp on 94 pump gas and that translates to 155lbs of torque. It pulls like a freight train and rides like a Cadilac. By far the smoothest riding sled I have ever ridin. Going to be a great year. With this and the new 4 stroke Doo, we will now have competion for our Yamahas. Click on the image to make it larger. Please go to Mountain section for further info under the same heading.

I'm going to close my mouth now, I was drooling

That thing looks sweet, finally yamaha gets some competion. The sterotype (and my experience) for 4-strokes is that are heavy, is this true for this Cat? That is one sweet build though.

Looks great.

Must have better fuel up north. The best I can find around here is 92 and it is hit/miss even finding that.

Nice work!

I would expect to see Arctic Cat offer something very similar next season but, maybe with a 162" x 16 track. I notice on my big heavy four stroke that a 16" wide track makes a huge difference in floatation.

It sure would be nice to see a factory turboed mountain sled with a warranty.

Great job.

Frosty

Snow Fever could you post some more photos of the sled different angles and such.

Thanks,
Steve W.

Very Cool. I am also curious to see how it performs. I wish cat would put that new motor in a mountain chassis.

hey how far from stock is the motor ! are u building the power with just exhaust or ? id like 2 see it in action!(utube )

The motor itself is bone stock, I built the exhaust in house, installed a second blow valve for the turbo to make sure it stays spooled when on and off the throttle and it has a D&D HiJacker fuel and boost controller on it. We put Simmons Flexi skis on, a Timber Sled Mountian Tamer skid, a Challenger Extreme 15x174 Track, Skidoo 3 gallon gas can (Because they fit very nice under the back of the seat) cut down the stock seat in house, a cut down stock Arctic Cat snow flap, stock Arctic Cat window drivers from the M-Series sleds, modified the rear stock heat exchanger, different gearing in the Diamond Drive (It came way Tall Geared) an 09' 153" stock M-Series bumper and tail light, built our own rear skid mounting brackets in house, built our own 48" long dove tail that matches the stock tunnel in house, mountain bars off of a 09' M-Series (Not the adjustable ones), I am working on a boost spiker so that the waste gate sees NO boost pressure until the boost hits around 8lbs (Will greatly improve the hole shot and boondocking in the trees when you need that extra ZAP, I built one for my RX1-Turbo and it works great) and if I told you what we had for clutching you would laugh. However, it engages smooth as silk at 3300Rpm and clamps the belt hard to wide open throttle:face-icon-small-win. I will take some more pictures today and post them.
