new 2012 Assault

So i just bought a brand new 2012 switchback assault. After reading all these threads i am worried about my sleds realiability,i will be riding in the UP of Michigan so elavation will be under 2000 feet.Wondering if i should turn the oil pump up to prevent it from blowing.I only have to 2 year warranty on it and need to keep this sled for a long time.Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

As soon as your warranty is up call up Indy Dan from Indy specialties in welch, mn and have him rework your engine and install his kit. It's your best bet for long term reliability.

Stock these sleds of ours have an average 1,500 - 2,000 mile engine life. Oh some get more, many get less. Turning up the oiler will help a lot and most likey get you more miles, but the engine has a defect where the pistons side load and create stress on the cylinder walls, causing the cylinder skirts to crack off on occasion. This often leads to a piece of the cylinder skirt falling down into the crank itself. And often when that happens your motor grenades, causing catistrophic failure.

I switched to Poo (2012 SBA) this year thinking the motor problems had been solved but apparently not. I think they're better than 08-10 but they still have piston/cyl skirt fatigue issues. Thankfully some vendors are now offering cylinder block mods and piston kits to increase reliability for relatively low cost.

You can buy an extra 2 yrs through Polaris for a total of 4. Run some extra oil in your gas tank, warmup to 100 degrees before taking off, etc. We don't put near the load on the motor that mountain riding does. Don't worry about it, don't let these guys scare you. I got over 2000 on mine in one year, not one issue.

Can you buy the extra warranty after the purchase? I hope i can get more than 2000 miles on it before it blows! Cant wait to ride it though, hate to spend 10,000 grand on a sled and have to rebuild it after 2000 miles!

Correct. This will help greatly.

Also, Shift, as Super stated, turn up the oiler. Adding oil to the gas doesn't help the lower end as there are no longer injectors there.

Try to not imagine the sky falling, take good care of your sled and go enjoy it.
