Anyone put on Van Amburg radiator delete and tunnel. I need some help with were and how to connect all the radiator lines. I think i have it right but want to make sure. there are no dam instructions with the kit and Van Amburg isn't much help. it would help to see a diagram of pic of one installed.
some pics or what i think the cooler delete should look like. Got my OFT roll over kits today. will put the gears and crankcase back together this weekend and finish the radiator hoses and put on the rollover kit this weekend. It's starting to snow already dammit!!
on the chain case side a few of the facotry hoses have to bend at weird angles so i'm going to get some 90 degree turnouts so the hose doesn't bend and collapse.
here is the finished tunnel with the front cooler delete. i'll get pics of it with the track and avids soon. The delete does make more of a pain to change the oil filter you won't be able to get an oil filter wrench onto it since it's designed closer to to fit larger tracks and drive sprockets. A simple lid opener type wrench will work though to get it off. You have to do alittle fab work on the stock foot wells to get them to fit on the tunnel. It's not much just cut down some of the sides to get them to fit.
heres the 7 tooth avids and the 162" CE track. You see how close the oil filter is to the front cooler delete peice. the track is totally loose but i figured you could easily fit a 3" lug and 8 tooth drivers under there. the 19/42 gearing is very tight. You have to shave down the reverse gear a little so it won't rud the 42 bottom gear. the gears are super clos to eachother. I may have to go with a 70 link chain as the 68 link stock one is super tight with the 19/42 gearing.
after trying several times to get the 19/42 gearing to fit with the 68 link chain like everyone said would work i called MPI and they advised me that they thought the 68 was too small and i would need a 70link chain as i figured. So now i'm ordering the 70 link chain. this project just keeps getting spendier. Started out with a $5000 budget and now i'm at around $7500. Ordered a timbersled rear skid with ice age rails too. I figured if you spend that much on a skid it would come with rear wheels and anti stab kit but you have to order those seperately wich added another $300 or so. Go figure. Can't wait to get it all put back together and go riding. Still have to do the front end which will be another $1600 and want to do an MPI stage 1 supercharger but i'll have to wait til next year to afford that. Put on the OFT rollerover kit with tether awesome kit. Put one on my wifes XTX too. No more oil in the air box when i have too roll the sled over to get unstuck. hopefully the skinz seat and E&S exhasut get here in the next week. i'm getting anxious to ride.
I talked to Tom Hartman the other day. He told me 19/42 will not fit without shaving gears. Not a good idea. He recommends 19/40. He thinks 18 is too low especially w boost.
Yeah i already shaved the reverse gear you don't have to shave much off. I did find out that for 19/42 gearing you do need a 70link chain. So i ordered one up. thanks for the input.

my guess is for a nonreverse it will work. the 68 was just a qaurter inch short of working. If you look at the MPI site you can see you need a 70 link to fit but doesn't specify reverse or non case. I'd double check before you go that route.
By looking at your pics you can see that the gears (reverse pinion gear/drive sprocket) above the bottom gear take up quite a bit of chain slack on the backside of the chain. Those don't exist on the non reverse chain case.
update. I was hoping to have the build finished by this weekend but my exhaust hasn't arrived yet. Should be done by next weekend hopefully. Here are some pics. I went with the 19/42 gearing and shaved down the reverse gear and swapped to a 70 link chain to fit it. It's pretty loose i think a 69 link would be perfect for this but i'll try it with 70 and see how it goes. Also put in the stiffener plate in the front end and rollover kit from OFT racing.
got the skinz seat. wanted it poweder coated blue but it arrived just black so i'm going with it. it looks good. had to do some modifications to get it to fit the VE tunnel but wasn't hard. I'm going to completely bolt it on so it will be easier to take off if i ever have too. I mounted my rear brake light on the back of the seat also. I do alot of night riding with large groups so need the light to not get rear ended. Put the timbersled rear skid together is super light can't wait to ride this thing. i actually put the antistab kit on the very front of the rails and took off the end caps. I think it will work better that way.
i'll get some pics of the E&S exhaust and install this week. hopefully after i start it up it will all work out. My only concern is the gear case chain being so loose and having to tighten the chain tensioner so much. shouldn't be an issue. My main worry is really the radiator lines. I already found one leak that i caused by accidently drilling into the hose when putting in some rivets. I just hope nothing else starts leaking once it gets some pressure in the system. I'm hoping to test ride on saturday up on mt hood if it snows like it's supposed to this week.
Got everything put to together the E&S exhaust is awesome sounds really good. Super grunty not like those whiny 2 strokes. Seat, rear end and plastics are on. burped the cooling system and ran the sled at idle for about an hour and the heat light didn't even come on. the boards and cooling lines were starting to get hot thought. everything looks awesome. going riding this saturday at Skyline Mt hood. can't wait to see how everything works out.
i'm going to get some blue vents for the plastics probably from MOD ROD, a steering post relocate either CR or OFT haven't made up my mind. then going to get either the whole Timbersled barbuster front end or just Fox floats and delete the sway bar. NExt year i'll looking at a stage 1 or 2 supercharger kit.
the skinz seat sits pretty high about 5-6inches compared to the stock seat and it is definitely not as comfy as the stock seat. For those that stand and ride alot most of the time and are taller riders it should work great. very narrow and easy to manuever over and aroudn the seat. if you're shorter i'd probably go with a BOSS seat. i'll post more on how everything works once a ride a few times.
