need some tech support for my clutch!!

07 X, pulled the primary clutch off to clean and inspect and once off i can't get the two halve to split. anyone have any suggestions here? about at the end of my rope here! I've never had them apart but dealer has lots for the updates. tried the rubber mallot inbetween the sheaves - no go.

Yep, whack on the puller head while holding the movable sheave in your other hand. It is a compression/taper fit just like to the crank. make sure the halves are aligned when you put it back together.
 
the rubber mallet between the sheavs did not work for me at all. Pounded the crap out of it for a long time. built up two 2x4's between the sheaves for the inside one to set on up off the ground. Put puller back in and hit it with a hammer a few times and it came right off.
 
you can try a super thin film of gray anti seize on those tapered shafts. thin like wd40 would be if you sprayed that on. in all actuality you should be cleaning your primary all the time and relubing your buttons for max consistency from your primary. so keeping a little anti seize wont hurt a bit. you just want to stop the rust from forming and creating a galvanic corrosion bond between the dissimilar metals. grease works too. -nick
