im looking at a 2003 Yamaha RX-1 Mountain need any info on good or bad with it.

This likely the wrong site for that ?. Going to get hate mail type answers on here. I have a 03 TRX1 mountain, yes its heavier & I dont care. Its treated me well over the yrs. Guess it depends on what your going to do with it. About the only thing that fails on a stocker is the 2 brgs behind the secondary clutch. They need to be greased once & awhile depending on mileage.

well heres the whole story i have 2 skidoo summit 800 and a 99 rmk 700 and i need one more sled for the wife so everyone in my family can ride. I just figured it would be good sled for the wife should be stable and she wont go off trail much but if she does get in some powder it will have a decent lug on it to keep her going. I got a good deal on it from my local dealer. wont get used much but when we all want to go rideing it will be nice i think. I didnt want to spend alot of money for one to just sit in the shed most of the time so lets hope it works out. Thanks for the input.

I suspect you are looking for info more like this. It is a good sled. Watch the engine braking, especially when standing. If you ride it like you Doo's, you will hate it. Ride it more like a motorcycle-smooth throttle transitions and resist the temtation to "blip" the throttle. It won't hurt, but it is not necessary. If, and better yet, WHEN you get stuck, move the sled to find traction and drive it gently out of the trench. If you gas it and push like a 2-stroke, it will just continue to trench. Make a couple of friends that don't have back issues and this sled will treat you well. Oil changes suck, but only once a year. Keep the battery on a tender so it won't fail you, and finally-be prepared, and once in a while suprised when it comes to replacement parts. Many are spendy, and just as many will suprise you at how inexpensive they are. Enjoy the new ride!
