Need more RPM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

questions

The dpm thing has me curious ,if you jet down low enough the dpm doesnt do anything right? Ihavent figured them things out yet so im curiuos. Also curious if that fixed your problem.

I went riding yesterday and no change!!!!!!! 2 to 3 feet of new snow and no rpm to make a fun day. Back to the drawing board! :(

DAng i was hoping for a qiuck fix.. Ive went every direction possible on clutching im starting to think its electrical or something. Was gonna try disconecting my dpm and trying that .I read a thread about the relay screwing them up something ill have to try i guess

Jet Down!!

My 827 with non hooded needle jets went down 6 sizes... This head and engine likes to run a lot leaner than stock.. Don't do it all at once but you will have to come down before you start realizing the power... You'll know when you get there, it pulls like a freight train!! Good Luck !! Randy

Ditto!

Like Randy said jet down, have 827 in 06 rev, started w/400 mains to be safe and rode about 1/2 to 3/4 's of a tank thru it, have 390's in now and plan to drop more this weekend while on the mtn, then will start with clutch if necessary. Good luck, I'll post findings after this weekend..Did you change primary spring? just wondering

Thanks for all the help you guys, i really appreciate it! I know i'll get there but i hate wasting all my riding days to do so, but thats how it works i guess.

Rockonrandy i was just wondering what you started with on jetting and what you ended up with since your running the same carbs that i'am? I;m currently at 450's!

450's!!
If your running an 827 with the stock pipe you should go down to 400's.
Your WAY to fat, that's your problem right there.
Are you checking your plugs??

I have a 840 with CS pipes and I'm at 420's

Snowsnob what year sled and what kind of carbs? Mine is an 01 ZX with stock non-hooded carbs.

Would like to bring this older thread back ttt.

Am having issues getting 840HO to pull at 8000 rpm in powder, had I believe around 16 gr. arm wt., pulled out all but 1.8gr. from threaded pins. Is now pulling 8000 rpm @ 1150 egts on trail,on clicker #4. In deep snow, will only pull 7550-7600 rpm.
Am I expecting to much with the big 16 wide, 2.5 Camo ? 7t-19/45 gears

840 is pulling pretty good now, think it just needed some breakin time, would like to see rpm up there at 8k when pulling in deeper snow.

Gonna hafta call BJ tomorrow.

I have an 827 with a 162-15-2.5 track, 19-43 gearing with 7 tooth 3.00 pitch drivers! My primary spring is a 160-320 with stock ramps, and arm with 18 grams of pin weight. Secondary has violet spring with a SMT helix. My problem is that i can't seem to gain any RPM no matter what i change? i really would appreciated any advise that you guys might have. Oh slrd is an 01 Summit with stock primary and an 06 button secondary. Thanks

First off I need more facts, you have left out much information....

1]What rpms the engine is supposed to run at? 7800? 8500? 8100?
2]You say "no matter what i change" What have you changed, please list changes one at a time....and what rpms did they reveal?

Are you confident that the engine is jetted correctly?
I have found a lot of guys who used my kit with rkt engine kit that they don't reveal proper rpms even taking out flyweight to 5~6 grams lower than propercalibration....The engine will not make rpms until you get the combustion temperature up and that means getting the jetting correct, lower jet size to start to build some heat and then that engine will turn on.
From customer feedback everyone seems to have a common denominator saying "once about 2 jet sizes away i started to feel the engine turn on and rev closer to what its supposed to"

....I would check the piston wash and start to jet down if you are not near the recommended jet for the engine.

DJ,

Kelsey tells me that i need to be 8400 to 8500 to see the true colors for the kit. At 3800 ft i can get 8400 rpm get to the mountain 7900 sometimes 8000 rpm. Went riding this weekend and was disappointed again. It ran 7800 and no power what so ever. 160/350 primary spring, 15 grams pin weight, 301 ramps, and your secondary kit. Gearing 19/43 with 7 tooth 3.00 pitch drivers. On the trail it will run 8200 maybe and it just doesn't pull. it feels like i doesn't want to upshift. And in the powder when i'm climbing i can look back and the track is barely pushing any snow down the trench behind me. I have geared down to 19/45 and no change. I have ran more pin weight and no change in rpm. I have also tried less pin weight, different primary springs and so on. The damn thing just won't pull! I got beat by my stocker.

And as far jetting i'm at 450's and next for 440's and that is with NON-HOODED carbs. Good wash and good plug color. It might be a hair rich but i don't think it is enough to make it run thins poor. Running out of time and patience!

Hey Curt-Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up this weekend. Sorry to hear that your sled is still not working. My 162 worked great. I left all my clutching and gearing just as I had it with the 151 and it worked great for the 162. I ended up actually gearing the sled up to 21/45 and it worked awesome, I was getting 55 to 60 mph track speeds in the powder. The sled really seemed to get on top of the snow well and with the smaller drivers it seemed to get the snow out of the tunnel better. I know I was able to go places that I never even would have thought about going before with the 151. The Avid drivers worked great, I think my track turns just as smooth as when I had 10 tooths in.

Glad to hear that the 162 and the clutching working so well! I really wish i could get mine figured out, but i just don't think it will happen. Please call next time you head to cooke, i will be there this time.
