I have an 827 with a 162-15-2.5 track, 19-43 gearing with 7 tooth 3.00 pitch drivers! My primary spring is a 160-320 with stock ramps, and arm with 18 grams of pin weight. Secondary has violet spring with a SMT helix. My problem is that i can't seem to gain any RPM no matter what i change? i really would appreciated any advise that you guys might have. Oh slrd is an 01 Summit with stock primary and an 06 button secondary. Thanks

You name it! Different springs, more weight, less weight. the only thing that i havent messed with is the gearing. Everyone says that lower gearing will lose RPM. The more weight that i add the better it pulls but if i lose weight to try and gain RPM it doesn't pull and i don't gain any RPM on top of it

Less pin weight should equal higher rpm. How much pin weight did you drop? What rpm are you spinning anyways?

Not sure how lower gearing will equal lower rpm. That one doesn't make sense to me. What kind of track speed are you seeing? Are your clutches smoking hot?

You could mess with gearing, if all else fails! That big of track with 19/43 gearing seems a little long legged, my 01' 144 came with those gears stock. Try it, might make a difference!

i have had anywhere from 16 to 20 grams of weight. And the clutches are pretty warm! Don't know the track speed cuz i have no speedo, sorry. Do you know how much gear ratio i'm lossing with my smaller drivers?

cj My buddy did the same thing last year. He did an 800 bb with roundslide carbs and we ran into the same problem your having. The only thing we didnt change is the recurved mpem box. Thats what we are going to change right away this year, it will be a stock mpem box off an 01 800. He also did the 162 2.5 track and7 tooth 3 pitch drives. He went to a 21 44 gear I think. He can only get 8000 ot of his.If we figure something out Ill post it but it might be a week or two. If you had the mpem recurved Id try to find a stock one to try just to eliminate other things that had been changed

Are your clutchs shifting all the way out?? The reason I ask is if they are shifting out fully, it might not be able to pull that gear ratio w/ a 162x2.5. Might be something to look at.

From experiance---I would say 19/45 at least if not a 20/47--gear that baby down--You will not lose RPM but gain RPM from a gear down--What you lose is top end speed with the gear down.

Actually you lose RPM from gearing down, just discovered that one myself recently. The clutches shift out quicker and that's how you lose it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I do have the re-curve and i think that i will try gearing down. My only concern is how much gearing am i losing with the smaller drivers and what kind of ratio should i be trying to hit.

Hey cjfarm, I see you are still having problems with your clutching. Your problems are just like mine on my 800 drop in kit. I had my computer remapped this summer so I am hoping that will help my problem. I too geared my sled down and I am actually thinking of putting the stock gearing in it to see what happens. We are going to be riding Cooke on the 3-6 of January, if you want to come ride with us. My old username is SummitZx, we talked about riding at Cooke last season. So how was the crop this year?

Everything was good this year! I just can't seem to figure it out. I have a buddy the geared his new 163 xp down and gain some rpm so what is the real answer with this gearing to theory?

OT i'm runnin clicker 4 right now. What do you think maybe jump to six and see what happen? If i do see rpm gain what must i do to get back to clicker 4 and still keep the rpm? Thanks

Who's kit are you running? Havve you checked w/ them to see what they recommend? I should be getting my jugs back w/in the next day or so and will post any findings after this weekend, hopefully. I'll be running RK TEk's kit on an 06. Good luck!

I had a 01 highmark 800. I changed to a 162 X 16 track off of a Rt 1000. First make sure you have enough compression. Should be near 150. You have done some good things but keep in mind your rpm's should be near 7850 per ski doo. I ran mine about 8100. You seem to have rpm. Your loosing it in the secondary clutch. Put back on your stock 01 with a 48 degree black ice helix or switch to a proper team roller. That will get your power to the ground. I was running stock gears with the reverse kit & 8 tooth drivers. I never had to adjust the computer. It ran just fine with 500 main jets. Delta 3 reeds also are a good bonus.

07 Summit X-rs 159:beer;

Quick reference:

Depending on setup
1g change per 100rpm
10# of spring force change per 100rpm's*

*remember that there is tolerence +/- on spring force due to manufactoring
