Need info on Klim F4 helmets.

i thought it would come in at less than that hmm,you wouldnt happen to have a weight on the lg 509 c2 would you.

Well for what it is worth, and not having time to film another video right now, the C2 Gloss Black Size Large that we have sitting here right now, with visor on, cheek pads and liner in, and the 509 tags hanging from the chin strap, it weighed in at 2Lbs. 8.5oz.

Remember that the 509 Carbons are all hand made, and that is why they all fit a little bit different and will vary in weight a little bit. But that is what we saw first hand here, on the same scale.

And for any nay-sayers, we really have no reason to push one brand or another, as we stock and sell them both, so this test was done dead even.

I'm interested to see how deep this discussion can go regarding a few hundred grams of weight difference. Glad to see the detail listed above referencing the OP's question. Interesting to see the 'details' of how a manufacturer designs/builds things so similar. I think the same thing applies with the discussion every year about new sleds. Most folks will find it just as hard to get out and be able to try a bunch of different brands and models to see what suites them best. I know light weight is all the rave, but IMO a lid is a crucial thing to risk finding out you totally hate 3 hrs into the first ride even though it was the featherweight choice. Shape, size, pressure points, goggle fitment, etc... enter my mindset long before weight does these days.

I bought the new ECE helmet this year.
have been wearing KLIM helmets for several years now.
"I" can feel the weight difference when I put it on.

Great Job!

Wow, they are lighter than I thought... 1360, that's an acceptable mark..... Good job klim for slimming down the brick!!!

I agree, there are alot of factors that need to be cosidered when buying a new lid... It's always best to try em all on, run around the store, jump up and down, put a couple different goggles on, do a couple somersaults, and some head bangin before u make a decision. . Its also nice to have as much info as u can get!!!

Thanks BM

1295 by my Math, but I could be wrong haha

hhmm i just redid 1147.971gm to be exact:face-icon-small-hap
if i did it right but i was never that good at math.
i wish there was a place around here where i had the option to try on a bunch of diff ones but thats not a option here. one thing about weight if you have neck probs weight is everything.

Strange...When I visited with John Summers at the Klim factory 2 weeks ago...He said and showed me that the vents were different in their showroom.

I know you are on top if it Shane :face-icon-small-coo... Snap some pics of the ACTUAL new lids for us!!

MountainHorse those are old pics. The ECE and DOT are the exact same shell design, just built differently. That graphic on the left does not even exist anymore, that is a discontinued model.

I showed you them in Puyallup ya knucklehead haha, and I'm pretty sure you took pics of them too! Where are your pics from that show? Also, I can grab pics this weekend at the show if they do not show up sooner.

And for the record the vents are different, but they are different from last years model, not a difference between this years ECE and SNELL versions.

Here is the link to the current helmets, right on KLIM's site, the ones at 399.99 are this years models ECE and SNELL , and the others are last years and years before that are discounted and non-current.

Haha, and yes, for the record you are right! My apologies.

Just tried on a xl klim ece at the boise show and the helmet is awesome. Their fit is so much nicer than the original that I have. If I hadn't just bought an airoh, which is lighter, I would have one. The new klim fits awesome. Fit seems better than my airoh.

I don't know about the new ones but my older Klim (3yrs) was a great fit to my head once the back neck area was clearanced for a collar on the Klim jacket or any other.

But the plastic pieces made the helmet junk for me. I've glued and taped all the stuff a couple of times and ran out of peaks. One branch snap bust the nose piece of in two so I epoxied it together and taped it on. Next branch broke it in two in another spot.
I finally just left the vents and pieces off and taped on a peak from another helmet. Looks lol aweful but still works.

I have to get a new one just because but it won't be a Klim. If you ride the trees stay away (unlike the rest of their line which is by far the best IMO).
And before you say don't hit the branches, I've been riding the trees since I started sleddin and have had many helmets in the last 40 yrs. None cheap (still have most hanging in the rafters). This Klim will be the worst one hanging for looks lol.
