I rode my sled on Sat. ran fine all day 09 m8 with Twisted turbo , garrett 2871 with bdx oil delete, 10 psi on avgas, at about 5 pm climbed a couple of short- steep hills, then parked sled, did not let it idle down fully before shutting it off, waited 5 min. then went to leave, sled fired up but then died- maybe a heat soak, then could not get started again- Towed it 5 miles back to the trailer. Tonight I tried to start, no luck so I pulled all 4 plugs, and tested for spark, which all 4 were good, plugs looked good a little oil on the ends, and a somewhat wet on the threads, checked electrical connections including ECU, I was able to get sled to start with ether but would not continue to run after ether burned off. no fuel right- so I checked the fuel pickups in the tank, they were good, so i'm thinking either a clogged fuel filter, which I did not remove yet, what type is this maybe automotive style- that is what it looks like, maybe a bad high volume fuel pump- how do u test that, any other ideas?? Thank You very much, if possible would like to get sled running by this weekend

What does your fuel pressure gauge read when pulling it over and when it's running on ether

Start simple. Did u check fuel pump fuse?? Pressure gauge build up when pulling it over?? Try running fuel pump with battery an see how it sounds an what it does. If it seems fine. Pull sled over while running pump an battery an see if it runs fine. If it does then some sorta power issue to fuel pump.

Those twisted high volumn pumps are not as good of quality as the stocker. Everyone I know that has a twisted kit has been through atleast 1 of those pumps. I bet its your problem. The msd 2222 regulator will give you weird fits too. That regulator will stick at a low psi and and the sled wont run..

I'm going to test the fuel pump 2nite

with a 12v battery and see if it's any good or not, it is just weird how it was running great, and then bam - no indications or warnings that something was going bad, I figured a fuel pump would work intermittently before it chit the bed. Sled would only run for a few seconds on ether, I didn't think to check the fuel pressure gauge.

Not sure if you know this. But when you start your post in the title, people reading on the mobile app cannot see it. All we can see is what you put in the reply box.

so Tapatalk doesn't show the title of the post

sounds like a glitch in the APP, not something I did Wrong

If you use snowest.com to post and you enter anything in the title section of the post the people on tapatalk can't see the title. They just see what you wrote in the actual post.

Here is what I'm taking about.

Crazy Stuff

Tested fuel pump tonite, hit it with a 12v car battery ,and pump clicked as if it was bad for chits and giggles, I decided to hit it with the wires reversed, whhhirll it goes, pump ran in reverse, awesome hit it again the right way and pump went whhirl again, yeeha. slapped pipe back on , attempted to start on the 3rd pull sled fired up and ran fine, WTF HUh. good news is sled is running, bad news is some weird chit went down to make sled not run..

I would start carrying a 9v battery and a couple small pieces of wire. So if it happens on the snow, you can unplug the pump and do what you just did. I've heard these pumps have tendencies to stick sometimes. A lot of guys carry the 9v for this purpose. One this is for certain. If it did it once, it will do it again.

I would replace the pump. Mine did this, fixed it the way you did, but noticed on a wot pull my afr's were creeping up. Adjusted my boost light all the way up and still hitting 13.0 on the afr.
New pump is cheap insurance.

Good idea is to run some 2s oil true the pump. Had good luck with lubing it once on a while.

Aver, You may want to switch back to the stock pump and wiring config.... I have a bunch of sleds running around with stock pump runnin on 10lbs. We used to have pump problems like this too.... You will just have to turn your boost light up a bit on your dobec box but the stock pump with 4 inj set up is just fine at 10lbs boost.

Theres only two ways I would go for fuel pumps:

Stock pump on lower boost sleds

Or Pure Logics (Garr) Set up with in-line booster pump and bypass for 12psi boost or higher.......

The by pass is not needed on the 8's, only the 1000 and 1200's. Save the money, not a supper cheap part.

I forgot to post a Update for the FIX

Tested pump forward, it was locked up did nothing, reversed the wiring to run in Reverse, pump instantly worked, whizzzz- YAY- then changed wiring to Forward- Whizz- hip hip hooray- rode it 2-4 times since no problems whatsoever- Weird but now it works, I'm guessing I had some Crud in the pump , which blew out when reversed- now I carry a 9V battery just in case....

The pumps get small pieces of brass (pump internals) stuck in them and when you reverse the pump it spits them out. I would get a new pump in there right away, this pump will probably fail. If you shine a light into your tank you will see "gold dust". This is the inside of the pump wearing out.

Does this apply to M1000s as well? Since they need more fuel, do you have any experience with what the cutoff is for the amount of boost you can run safely on the stock pump of a 1000?
