Need HELP with importing a snowmoble...

So I found a polaris 2008 rmk 0700 on line a made a deal on it.....Great....but the tunnel has been polished and the US statement of compliance label (s.o.c. label) has been removed. In order to past the R.I.V. inspection at are local Candain tire, Cranbrook B.C., this decal has to be in place OR a letter from the manufacture stating that the snowmobile meets all safety and emmissions standards...Great call Polaris and pay 55 bucks for the recall letter which suspose to have this information on it....But it doesn"t,, fax into riv and the local inspector they say ,"we can not pass it". Call polaris again they say they do not provide these , contact the us goverment...lol...good luck with that........Need help...... Polaris is NO help..... I think they are trying to stop the import of us sleds?

May be I am wrong about this but I thought that usually a recall letter from the manufacturer states that the the item conforms to all safety stuff.....also gives your serial #,make,model and year etc. Here is a couple links... hope it helps!

Here is what it states.....




Snowmobile
(Motoneige)
Vehicle (including a snowmobile conversion
vehicle) that has a mass of not more than 450 kg,
is designed primarily for travel on snow, has one
or more steering skis and is driven by means of
an endless belt or belts in contact with the
ground.
United States 15 years or older:
– Vehicle Import Form – Form 1
Less than 15 years old:
– label or letter from the manufacturer
certifying compliance to at least one of the
following standards:
1. CMVSS; or
2. SSCC Inc.
– Vehicle Import Form – Form 1;
– RIV program; and
– snowmobiles manufactured after
January 1, 2001 must bear a 17 digit VIN
number.
Other Countries 15 years or older:
– Vehicle Import Form – Form 1
Less than 15 years old:
– Inadmissible

hey,

maybe i don't understand and i may be outta line here but.....u live in bc....i don't know anybody i ride with that has insurance or registration on there machine, just ride it.
