Hi,

I'm an trail rider and no one really gets into making lightweight Trail Sleds.

I have an Nytro RTX and Looking at makeing it into an 128 or 136.

Below is an list of stuff I have come up with and what I think I can lose in weight off the sled.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Does Timbersled have an Carbon Can?

I don't really need an turbo, I want it to lose weight so it's more responsive in the tight twisties.

How much weight would an Carbon tunnel Save.

Please feel free to correct me on any of my numbers.

Thanks

Lightweight Carbon A-arms, LW Bolts from Carbonsled with Barkbuster Spindles from Timbersled 14 lbs
USI Railer Skis 2 lbs
Light Weight Steering Post from CR 2 lbs
Hauck Exhaust and Headers 10 lbs
Hauck Airbox Delete 3 lbs
Timbersled MTN Tamer Rear End with Carbonsled Carbon rails and Carbon Wheels 45 lbs
14x128x1 Track 6 lbs
Custom Tunnel from Vanamburg 10 lbs(Guess)
Ti Trackshaft and LW Brake Disc 3 lbs
Carbon Hood and Body Parts 5 lbs
Custom Seat from Mod Sleds and plastic delete 6 lbs
Light weight battery 12 lbs

Total 118 lbs....

It would be cheaper to turbo it. Cheaper power to weight ratio improvment. On the trail the extra weight won't be as much of a factor. But all that carbon stuff would be cool.....

Most of the trails I ride on are tight and twisty, no real space to ring out the turbo.

However light sleds tend to be an lot more fun in the woods, so I would rather spend my money there.

Don't need an Super or an Turbo, you can't pin an stocker for more than an few seconds anyways, these trails are so tight

Need help with weight loss ideas on the Nytro

don't sweat it.......these guys are all boost happy

I can understand some of your thoughts and think you have good idea's but remember Carbon fiber is not only strong but brittle, crack it and it's done! Don't sweat the turbo craze...everyone here is boosted or on there way and they don't see it any other way. Try Totallyamaha.com, a lot more stock sleds and guys who are there to answer questions "asked" not cram boost down your throat, good luck! Now go ahead.....flame on....LMAO

While your at it you might as well yank the headlights out and put in some lighter PIAA's. This will get you cooler air to the radiator as well. Just a thought. Port the chaincase as well, thats good for a couple hp.

Any body else having probs with their light weight batts? I was just going to order one,but wont if there is not enough cca.

hey i still got one for sale man! go for the seat but wow that list is a lot of $,maybe a turbo and some of these advertised weight saving are questionable, and yes most of us responding have been(and still)there

Not Trying to push a turbo down anyone's throat.
As a matter of fact I kick myself for not keeping my lightweight RX1 with the stock engine . It was as close to perfection as it gets and the girlfriend loved it----- should have kept it for here and start from scratch again on the turbo for me. Live and learn . The weight was about the same as the Phazer but much easier to ride.
For the Mountain riding we do turbos rule period I had to have one -----That said Weight and suspension is always my first priority.

just dont get the batcap they are junk the interstate faytz7s is a good one & the mpi ones are ok.the timbersled skid is dead on on the weight loss & mountain mod seat both great products as for the carbonfiber stuff just dont know if its worth the money or not unless money is no object the rails & a-arms are about 1200$ each set.the vanam tunnel great choice & yah its about 10-15lb loss cr tunnels are very nice too.oh slydog skies are the lightest ski out there i beleave.:beer;:beer;

I've identified about another 20-30 lbs of potential "advertised" weight savings, for an total of about 150 call it 120-130 in reality, i think it is possible to get an 136 trail Nytro under 400 lbs dry.

Does anyone know of an source for light weight racing radiators? As I'll be running Piaa's I can probably get away with something smaller/lighter due to the increased flow.

Thanks for everyones help.

Thanks for battery info iamvector. Can you pick one up from any interstate dealer?
