Need help, crankcase full of coolant

First off the sled died with a puff of white smoke. I took the head off and the case was full of water. One of the inner head o-rings head a slight tear so I was hoping that was the problem. I put new o-rings in, put it back together and it filled up with water again. There is no damage to the top end, crank turns over nice and smooth, and there is no obvious damage to the engine. Anyone have any ideas? My first thought would be blown bottom end but the crank feels so nice.

Sled is an 800r xrs with about 1700 miles......sound familiar?

I'm going to tear it down the rest of the way tomorrow. The base gasket was my next thought (if it is not a broken case). I am just hoping I am overlooking something simple that someone else knows before I pull the engine out.

Anyone else?

Doo started to use Loctite 518 on its base gaskets in '04 and Ive seen them shat out several times.

No crank problem before, this is the first time the sled has had an engine problem. I am hoping I get lucky and it's not the crank/case. The crank still turns very smooth, there is no clunking or grinding while turning it.

The crank cracked through the pto counterweight and took out the case.

It was my old sled that I sold to a friend, he blew through a couple of belts the day before it broke. I have a sneaky feeling that is why the crank went. It seems like breaking along a counterweight is pretty unlikely otherwise. I'm glad I sold the sled but feel bad for my buddy. Anyone seen I crank break like this?

btw pulling an engine out of a rev chassis is a b*tch. I sure hope my xp never pops because the rev looks like an airplane hanger in comparison.......
