naming my Business

I am a CADD designer working in the oil and gas industry. i design O/G pipelines, and high pressure steam lines. i don't really want to use my name in my company name. anyone think of anything sled related that i could work in?

try something generic that gives the customer an idea about what you do,

your name plus design does not do that
highmark designs is even worse, completely left field

having the words design in your name also brings about lots of questions about what kind of designer you are..

I belive part of your name or tag line for your name must give some idea of what you do, for instance

UNDER PRESSURE
"oil and gas designs"

blue's got a good one. "Under Pressure" What I did when I was thinking of a name for my company was look through and try to find a word that would stick out wether it be on a sign or truck decal. I came up with New Attitude Homes... I thought it'd look eye catchin with the attitude in a different style.
"Under Pressure" would look cool with the font that starts big then shrinks than gets bigger again. Or the opposite way..

Don't use AD Boivin!

They have a disgusting reputation beyond my repute.

How bout "Highflow Designs"?

What about something like "High Pressure Piping Design"?

High

Piping

Sounds like very cool work. I've got pipelines on either side of me, and under my feet as we speak. Very neat stuff. Best of luck!

Sawyers first is good.

Then under it, we more lay pipe then a dirty old sailor!

Be careful about putting your last name anywhere in there. I work for the inlaws company doing project management and general contracting in the commercial sector (Dance Designs, Inc.) Needless to say we get an overwhelming response from people looking for dance lessons and get a bunch of stupid crap about dance stuff in the mail all the time. Just a fore warning ;)

A name is a name as long as it is catching, short and to the point or make sure it can be abbreviated (mine is Adrenaline PowerSport Accessories....APSA for short). If you plan on having a website or even e mail make sure you can obtain it in a domain before you get too far. IE: www.underpressure.com and e mail Info@underpressure.com....makes it a lot easier for the customer to remember. Good luck. P.S. McDonalds makes a red background and yellow lettering for a reason....
