My sled will ALWAYS be lighter product!!

What does it say about how it handles temperature extremes? Water is one thing but frozen water is another....

It looks like about $150 for enough to do a sled. Might be worth it if it lasts a full season with a few washings mixed in.
Interested to see how this works with snow and ice, if it works even half as good as with water it will be a no brainer, especially for is Wa guys with 100 lbs of Cascade Concrete.

Icephobic and hydrophobic are not necessarily the same thing...

Any info/vids on the icephobic properties of this?

Also.. If you spray it on... how do you remove it if you need to re-paint/PC a part... often, materials like this are nearly impossible to remove for repairs.

Looks like a promising product though. I'll be looking for your report/pics on this Himark... Thanks for being the test mule!

Well I sprayed it on my M8 today. Definitely a white haze. Didn't spray my black hood because of how white the haze is. Sprayed the airframes, tunnel inside and out, up in the steering, rails, behind windshield, footwells, rear suspension brackets, rear flap, etc. Will try it this weekend and report how it holds up. Will be riding with another M to compare. It doesn't come out pretty by any means, and I used compressed air spray guns.

Geesh - I think I might have done a small test area first. I don't want the snow to stick but I do like my sled to look nice! Keep us posted on the results - I hope it works great for you!

After letting it dry I can already tell the durability on plastic is going to be poor, scratches off easily. It sticks better to textured plastic than slick plastic. Metal adhesion is much better but no more durable than spray paint from what I can tell thus far. Its not a slick surface, quite the opposite, but water is beading right off after I sprayed spots to test.

Yeah I don't think it is supposed to be slick. Looking at the science on it it all has to do with angles and how water sticks to surfaces. Perfectly flat isn't the optimal angle. The one product I looked at actually called for acid etching before applying the product to help the bonding process.

Go ride that thing!! Snow report for western Colorado is calling for powder on Sunday! Here's hoping you get some wherever you are and all the snow falls off your sled! That would be like the best news ever!

I already have the inside and outside of my tunnel covered with UHMW plastic
tape and it works great. But can't do the running boards with it. Would be great if it would endure a season or two there.

Good Luck

Hit my snow shovel with 150 grit sand paper then sprayed the ultra ever dry on it last night. Shoveled my driveway this morning and absolutely no snow stuck to it. Held up great. Definitely need to sand slick plastic parts. It adheres way better and much more durable. Not many of us want to jack the plastics up on our sleds though with sand paper...

Ok, I would vote that Christopher create a sub-forum specifically for testing new products, available only to Premium Members, as a value added service.

Proposed new products, one or two a month, to be voted on and then the most popular put to the test by a respected forum member and then post the results.

This is a GREAT idea!

wait what? there are respected forum members?

Something I just thought of is if it works, I wonder if you put it on your goggles, if they would never fog? Sounds like it doesn't like smooth plastic though so maybe it wouldn't last, and maybe the white haze would interfere with transparency. Would be cool to have goggles that NEVER fog though...

10. What color is the superhydrophobic coating?

Answer: The standard product is a translucent white. We do not have a transparent formula at this time. Custom colors are available upon request, minimums may apply. It is recommended to try the superhydrophobic coating in an inconspicuous area first if color is important.

Well I wasn't as impressed with it on my sled. All the metal parts on my M8 I sprayed still got ice to stick to them. Took longer, and ice didn't stick as hard to it as my buddies M1000, but still iced up and held it. Under the tunnel, top of the tunnel, airframes, steering, suspension, rails, all still got ice buildup. It actually worked much better on plastic parts. Maybe cause they weren't as cold as the metal parts? Who knows. It held up and shed snow pretty well off the rear flap, the front nose cone inside the front bumper, the whole area I sprayed behind the windshield by the steering post. Didn't do too much for the tops of the skis, but they were under snow all day.

So is this stuff a miracle for us sledders? No, at least not what we all had hoped for.
