My sled weight

Doo is the only one that empties absolutely everything out for the dry weight. Using the above figures, yours should be about at published doo dry weight, with all your mods on it. Doo dry weights are usually modified by the BS factor.

wow, hostility or gealousy, maybe we should start a new thread on that? now for the really big question, is it really worth getting yer panties in a wad?

I'll jump in the mix.......I weighed my 07 M1000 @ Felkers in Loveland with Lynn and Calvin as witness':

Full Wet.......all fluids topped off: 556lbs.
Without fuel: 482lbs. (11.4 gal X 6.5 lb / gal = 74.1 lbs.)

Granted there are many lighter sleds but, I'll be happy I'm sure. She rocked last year and it was about 25 pounds heavier!

Do the "snow dance"!!! We need it!

true,,,, But how much did you spend to get your sled that light????

Spent just enough to get it to 556lbs wet. :D If I would have spent a bit more, she would be a bit lighter.:p

Loveland eah???

Look me up if we ever get any snow............ CO Snowest ride @SLO??

What, just cuz someone has modified their sled to perform better than yours that somehow discounts the fact it's better than your stocker? If you think your stock XP is going to compete with well setup mods, you have some disappointment ahead. Run what ya brung and sort it out on the snow:rolleyes:

You guys are staying up too late. It's almost riding season and you'll need your rest for the SHOOTOUT!!! Go get 'em:face-icon-small-hap Paul!!!

Mods

A mod should beat a stocker,,,, It's just about the money you spend. Not that hard to spend thousands on all the latest mods. A $20,000 dollar should beat a stocker. I will say though,,, a lot of the "mods" pigs.. built by guys that don't know what they are doing.... We see it all the time... :) More beer.... :beer; :beer;
qreiff Get together with Calvin,,, we can go ride..

We were taking about sled weights,,,, not who is going to beat who... DOH!

lol, all I ever see is keyboard shootouts and bench racers on here, with their "my brand is better than your brand" internet events. The real test of the best setup sled and/or best rider comes out on the snow over the course of the days ride, not side by side on a lake or pointing up an open slope for a 15 second pull. I have no problem with those "events" but they don't tell you much about a sleds all around boondocking abilities, and that's where most of my day is spent. I'd get a turbo 4 stroke if I wanted to go really fast in a straight line or climb fast up hills.

Oh, I think you are talking about who's gonna beat who, just being more political about it this time:rolleyes:

Everytime you trade your sled in you take a hit in the wallet and you don't gain that much (XP maybe an exception compared to REV, i'll give you that). I put that money in my 05 chassis and make it that much better. Just seems a better way to spend my money. I was riding a 450 pound, 155 hp sled in 2005-2006 and it was a 700:face-icon-small-hap When I see a chassis that comes out that I think is better than what I have then i'll upgrade and start over on that. Until then, I'll just keep plunking my yearly allotment of "trade in money" right back into the sled.

True about the mod sleds that don't get tuned properly, but that's always been the case and always will be. A buddy of mine rode all last year with NOS on an M8 and all he did was blow funny gas into the air and not a hp to the track. Last year I was on the end of a tow rope way too much, some just chit breaking, some just bad tuning on a new motor system, but when it ran it ran fast:D I guess I'd rather that be the case than to run something mediocre.

Just hung my sled from the scales... It is a 08 163 Summit X. No head light, light weight seat. Tail light fell off. No tool kit, no extra belt. 0 gas. Full of oil & the rest of the fluids. 450 lbs.

Please don't give me any crap about not having any gas,,,,, I know we don't ride that way.... I trust you can do the math. In fact I am going to fill it for a ride tomorrow...
Oh I forgot to add 2 oz for the flame sticker...:) More beer.. :beer;

We are going to try the Snowy Range. I will let you know

Why do you not have a head light? Have you never riden at night? I hope you never get stranded and then need a light later on. Unexpecting things happen out there. Also why no extra belt. That is a must have on every ride. You never know when you might need it. Also why no tools. I guess you have never used them either huh.

I guess I don't know why people strip down the sled to weigh it and say see my sled is lighter then yours. Yes yours might be lighter but mine has everything needed to get me there AND back. I understand we want a light sled but when we start sacraficing saftey for weight I think it has gone to far. I understand these might not be a big factor in the weight so why don't you just make the sled ride ready and then weight it. With or without gas doesn't matter.

I know it might only be a pound or two at most but why not just throw it in then?

Oh on a side note I have never weighed my sled, and probably never will. I dont care how much it weighs as long as it gets me to where I want to go.

OOPS Sorry

I did make a mistake..... I took the stock head light off... But I do have a head light,,,,, My own that's 3 lbs lighter than the stock one. I agree a guy needs to be prepaired when he is in the hills..

About your sled weight,,,, As a yammy driver, I am sure you have never weighted it... Might scare you to death... Like HOLTZ has said, weight is everything... Come on,,,,, drink more beer...

I'll take any challange I love to ride and would like to know if I bought the right sled I can factor in the mods to money diff. I like the xp but not one gave my m1000 a run last year, I walked all over them but the snow conditions where in my favor, I don't mind getting beat, it means theres always something better.
If anyone can show me something new I will take the offer

kodpkd,

nice work, just goes to show what you can do with a stock sled and a some attention to detail.. that's pretty light. i'm sure you'll have a lot of fun messing with guys that have spent a lot on mods and never reach their potential.

i'm with rocky on this one ,
you can flip over the pages of a magazine , bolt this on , light weight this , take that off and i'll still beat you sled for sled with a little tuneing , no replacement parts
