My reeds have finally lasted a while.

I was having a fit at the start of the season with reed petals. Coouldn't go a hundred miles. I've tried them all. My last set killed the cages too. So, I installed M7 cages with M1000 reeds. The M7 cage is narrower, and doesn't open as wide, which results in less flex and stress on the petals. I didn't notice any difference in performance; I dare say that this combo has cured the illness. 400 miles this way without a hitch. I recommend it.

EFI systems suffer this stress on the reeds mores o than the smaller arpeture of carbs.

One aspect is slight lean spots with efi that you dont see with carbs, carbs tend to be richer in mixture and less destructive on the reeds.

Over the past 20 years of this I've found as you did, that turbos do NOT take to large reed stop openeing heights. we are FORCE feeding the engine , the need to to regulate the open area is paramount for us where as in a non boosted app. we need to help as much as we can..LOL

The larger i.d of the throttle body creates a violent change in vloume thru the petals when the butterfly is opened. the reeds can only take so much flex and wagging before fretting failures occur.

This site has some very good tuners who are getting their heads around these issues quicker than I expected..

Good jobs guys and keep on boostin..

Gus
