800 comparo
I was in Valemount - Allen Creek the following sleds were present
D8 163" 2008 model big horn air kit, SLP pipe
2 2008 XP 154 X models - stock
1 2009 XP 163 X model - stock
my 2009 M8 162" sno pro with RKT 15hp kit.(head)
we drag raced about 20 times each on a nice flat stretch around 6000ft
1st -M8 by one length
2nd - XP right on my bumper
3rd - Dragon right on the XP bumper
this repeated many...many....many times.
Then it was the climbing show.....the results were the same many...many...times.
one thing I must say the XP's are VERY strong runners, stock! made short order of that piped up Dragon all day!
I got on the 09 XP 163" and here are my impressions (coming from a cat guy, lol)
-vibration is wild...fell it right through to your boots.
-i let off the throttle and damn near went over the handle bars
-went to pull it over to one side and it went with the lay of the land..and so did i!
-seat was way to wide up front.
-throttle pull was VERY hard!
I consider myself a fairly good rider, love to climb...nothing to steep to pull
I felt like a bloody 5 yr old learning how to ride!
I got onto the Dragon, and the chassis is VERY similar to the cat...however I dont like the cowling and gauge cluster area, I have knee pads on my cowling, missed the pads right away while on the dragon.
Now take my opinion with a grain of salt, I am a cat guy, but those doos work very well but my cat is a ton more fun to ride, tip your head and your on your side...I love it.
cat has done a great job this year, i highly recommend the M8 for 2009.
BTW - my M8 bone stock was a sled length a head of that same piped up Dragon...EVERYWHERE!!!!!
Dragon would be my last choice of the 800s
