wow, nice tunnel mod, first simple looking one i've seen.

where'd you get the bar / support piece?

did you run any support down the inside?

Very Very nice! Good job man!... Finally a nytro that didn't cost 30k to build!

The tunnel support bars are just something I made. Pretty simple, just some bent some tubing and added a little flange.

Here's a link for the tail light HERE

While I enjoy looking at the boosted and bling'd Nytros that are being built, it's just not practical for how and where I ride. My goals were to drop a little weight, but mainly to beef up the rear skid and reduce trenching. Still a few little loose ends to tie up(handguards, alignment, running board inserts)

Thanks for the compliments, this was a tame project compared to my last IQr.

Nice

Finally a realistic guy...all these boosted sleds and yeah that's nice but the normal sledders, the majority of us can't afford it, or would rather not spend TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS on something you'll look at half the year. If your selfish or single or have lots of cash that's great but we need more people that make Yamaha's look and ride great using a realistic amount of cash. I'll throw you a few suggestions or for others to keep in mind that are inexpensive and great to do.
Have the rear gas skid shock and the two front shocks revalved to your weight and riding style, don't cost much ($180.00 for all three) HUGELY improves the lame azz Yamaha pyramid stacked valving in these shocks. Carver has done many Yammi shocks and it makes a huge difference, it won't feel like the same sled when you do this! Timbersled or your own custom built drop brakets would be cheap and loose a bit more weight. Relocate your battery to under the rear seat and build a simple little aluminum box/cradle to set it in, takes 10lbs off the nose, is inexpensive and balances a little more wieght to the rear. I wish more guys were simple minded or had families to support or poor like me so we all could benefit from this kind of inginuity.....like old days. Nice sled.....I truly enjoyed your post!

I suggest putting the tail of the skid on something (at least a 4x4) and bottom the skid by standing on the extension, dont just bottom it with the skid flat on the floor
I think you will have track contact with the muffler

Sled Looks great though

Nice to see you kept the stock spindles on as they look way better then the ones from Timber !! I also think you may have some contact with the pipe being so low in the tunnel though. Just keep an eye on that. Looks great as well. Have fun this year.

How can the track possibly go higher than the upper rear wheels and axle? Seems to me that if the muffler is above the track, it won't matter...

The track is fine sitting in the garage but add about 100 km track speed and see where the track is. They tend to ballon outwards at speed. My buddies stock Nytro went through hyfax like crazy, but mine on boost never hardly touched the hyfax. things change with speed.

No boost means i'll never see 100km track speed. As the skid compresses it gets tighter not more loose. I've got nearly 3 inches and like it was stated before the main part of the muffler is located directly over the upper idlers.

Crow - sweet looking sled, very clean and functional, and, more importantly, not a huge amount of money. Who's under tunnel exhaust is that? Do they make one for an Apex? Thanks.

It's just a titanium muffler from a 2000 Yamaha R1 Sportbike. Just have to modify the muffler and header a little.
