maybe some of you should get out of snowmobiling or learn how to ride them all of the dragons that ive been around run just fine even the turbos they even are warrantying my neighbors 09 800 with a turbo the ecu burned out he took it into the dealer and they replaced it
just like any other sled they have their problems

why not give out the name of all the dealers you know so that some of the other people can get their sleds fixed and warrented. and your neighbor with the turbo, would like to no the name of that dealer, have alot of freinds with turbos that would like to take their sleds in for warranty work.

After reading this thread I see that Polaris has a problem with there 800.
Also if you have a problem you our very vocal about it. I ride with a group that has a few d8 in it and have had very good luck with them. In the bend area there has been a few go done but not many.

I run a repair shop and the sled that i get in the most with engine problems is SKI-DOO. I would say that for rebuilds i do 5 to 6 times more ski-doos to all the rest combined. With the polaris and cat rebuilds i do, most were from poor oil or storing it wrong. The ski-doo's the pistons and the crank our the problem, 700;s and 800,s mostly the 800,s ALL YEARS.

one guy in our club had 4 motors put in his 08 xp, when they go it takes the crank case too.

Another local polaris rider and I were talking about this issue one day and he had a theory.
Maybe 800 cc engines are just not capable of staying together the way they build them these days, too light in the crank and cases, bore/storke combination, etc, ???
Just look at all the issues both Polaris and Ski Doo have had with all their 800's over the years.
I don't know how the new Cat is doing but their bragging how they took 4 lbs out of the crank would definitely scare me away from it being a 1st year engine.
I know the old Cat 900 twins were bullet proof but that was built way heavy duty compared to todays standards and goals of lightweight packages.
I've talked a Polaris mechanic from western WY and he is absolutely sick of rebuilding 800's. 135 update kits in 08 and 09's is enough to make any mechanic sick.
He really hates it when the customer comes in to pick up the sled with it's 3rd set of pistons and only 300 miles and asks, "You've got the problem fixed now don't you". And he can't look them in the eye and say they've found the problem and he should be good to go. I'd hate to be a dealer in the Polaris camp with these issues on $10K + machines.
You know if a car manufacturer released crap like this the consumer would be all over them. It's just too much money to be having problems like this that should've been sorted out in the dyno room and product life testing dept. Beginning to wonder if such departments exist at Polaris anymore.
Sure am glad I decided to down size to a 600 a couple years ago.

Just until all of our PO 800's are off warranty!!!!! Then your numbers will change!!!!!

First , leave the kid alone he has an a rite to talk too. Just wondering what the common denominater is. Last you need warranty work on something that is Poos fault PM me.
